Had a great time on holiday here recently and will return next year. Hotel is spotless, cleaners worked all hours, the location of the hotel is right on the beach which was wonderful. Food was excellent with plenty of variety, the staff friendly. Wish there had been maybe a disco sometimes after the entertainment ended. There was a show of some description each night and kids dances but none for the adults. the lifts were fine, but were very busy on our departure day where it took around 30mins to get downstairs with the cases. there was a luggage room provided so I can't understand why someone said there wasn't.

This is our second stay in this hotel, and 3rd visit to this resort. 1st time was Sept,04 and then Sept 06 There were 6 adults, a 10yr old and a 2yr old in our party, and we had 3 rooms. All the rooms were the same size.

This is a great hotel, being right next to the beach, you step out the front doors and onto the sand. Since our last visit the beach has been extend (its a manmade beach) and there is plenty of room for beach games as well as sunbeds. The resort was also undergoing improvements.

Rooms are clean but basic. They have a TV with some English channels, a small wardrobe, hairdrier, Air conditioning which was great, took a while to cool the room but once it did..fab! beds and towels changed regularly.

We had a room looking out over the pool and right along the La Pinade beach and prom with the palm trees lining the grassed areas.

Entertainment was good, we thought the best entertainment was the adult disco but that was on our last night, but through the week there was a fire eater, 4 tops tribute, acrobats and Irish dancers also kids disco and the compulsory Bingo!

Since last time they have fitted a small Jacuzzi by the pool, and there is also a small kiddies pool, plenty of sunbeds and plenty of daytime activities, darts table tennis rifle shooting pool games etc.

The large resturant had a good variety of food, bearing in mind they cater for several nationalities, food was generally hot, buffet sytle, if your a dessert person you might be dissappointed, there was a good selection but not typical English desserts though.

There is 2 small genereal shops just opposite the hotel, but the tenpin bowling pub which was also there has been knocked down since we last visited, that was a good alternative to the hotel entertainment last time but not anymore...

Overall we had a great time we visited the local theme park a few times and there is a waterpark a few hundred yards down from this hotel

Bad points, there was quite a bit of building work going on around the hotel, the old tenpin pub and a new hotel being built opposite but there was not to much noise and these are both at the back of the hotel.

Having had a great holiday some five years ago we looked forward to this one, oh dear, oh dear what a change. On arrival we were given the smallest room I have ever been in after complaining, a large room with a lovely view was allocated.

The next problem was other peoples children hundreds of them most under 7 running wild all over the hotel pressing lift buttons, where are the parents? Same at meal times no wonder the staff were fed up.

Entertainment was rubbish, it needs a adults only area for a quiet time.

What happened to the bowling bar just up the road, the hotel group owned the land and knocked it down and are putting up apartments.

Behind the hotel a 5 star hotel is being built, in summery if you don't have kids stay clear I know we will.

Located virtually on a clean and large beach far enough out of the hellhole that is Salou, its a pretty quiet area with access to small supermarkets, gift shops and restaraunts. Depending on where your room is based you either get a nice view of the beach or can watch workmen jump in and out of holes building what looks like another hotel. You can't however escape the distant view of the oil refinery which does make you wonder what exactly flows into the sea? A word of warning regarding rooms, its a lottery as to whether you end up with a spacious well set out one or something that resembles a broom cupboard with beds crammed in that you are left with little or no floor space.
The cleanliness of the hotel is somewhat extreme to either the good or the bad. On one hand over eager dining room staff are ready to remove used plates from you before you have even finished or you have room cleaners who think the concept of clean towels is to pick up the dirty ones that you are asked to leave on the floor (if you want them changing) and to hang them back on the rails. You may also want to wipe your feet AFTER you come out of your room!!
The staff in the complex are again also from one extreme to the other. Some fall over themselves to help you others couldn't care at all and are just plain rude. You never have to wait long to be served at the bars which are well staffed, entertainment staff are amusing and hyperactive becoming a tad irritating but seem to please children, but the two head waiters who are supposed to greet you in the dining hall are two of the most miserable people I have ever met only being beaten by the shamefull, unhelpful and downright rude reception woman and I am ashamed to say she is English (no wonder some Spanish dislike the British!!). Food in the dining hall is well presented and offers quite a lot of choice but does become quite repetative after a while and most of the kids choices has been deep fried to death. In the bar it offers a limited choice but the pizzas are very nice however if you are unfortunate to be there on a rainy day and the bar gets busy the staff there seem to panic if too many people want to place orders and can get quite obnoxious and blunt telling you to "go away". When you first arrive on a two week stint the entertainment seems to be varied. One night we had Chinese acrobats the next a Village People tribute. Its all stomachable but starts to annoy and become a bit repetative towards the second week and you may start to look further a field or even go to bed. WARNING - Friday night seems to be resident DJ 'Ricky' night FIND SOMETHING ELSE TO DO OR GO ELSEWHERE!! This bloke acts like a superstar though he is more like the first voted out of X Factor and treats Brits like they all have come from a Carry On film and have an IQ of 2.
Would I go back to this hotel? Well yes but probably only for a week so I could condense two weeks activities into the one, taking children of ages 5 and up, not bothering with the breakfast and dinners supplied and to see if the hotel being built opposite our balcony was finished and was any better!

Having just arrived back from a 2 week stay at the Don Aire hotel, I feel I need another holiday pronto.
You enter the hotel through an immaculately kept lobby, only to wait half an hour to get into one of the hotels minimal lifts to take you up 6 floors to a room that looks as though the previous occupants just left, and the cleaner forgot what Mr Sheen was. I don

Have just returned from the Donaire Beach, and can only agree with the previous post, English lady on reception is extremley rude and needs lessons in customer care, food was awful, bread was mouldy only spotted after eating a mouthful, waiter wasn't bothered when I showed him. Entertainment was poor, with tall blond girl who seemed to dislike kids, and spent every opportunity making innuendos of an adult nature to her co host of the evening, well after 7 days of this repetitive chat it was pretty cringing to watch. lifts are a nightmare took 4 trips and 30 minutes to take 4 people and 4 suitcases to reception. only to find there is not luggage room or changing facilities for people who are departing late,
having read varying reports on here regarding the donaire, I have to think are the really good reports real!? Were these people in the same hotel as us?
The location was the only good thing about this hotel being on the beach, but other than that, there are not many positive things to say.

We stayed in the Golden Donaire Park Hotel for a week, but would have stayed for another if our work commitments would have allowed.

Our rooms were big enough for us. You have to insert a key into the wall for the electrics or air-conditioning to work. Also the air-con does not operate if the balcony door is open.
One of the few downsides are the lifts, which consisted of two smaller, 4 person, lifts. Plus two larger glass elevators. Our rooms were on the sixth floor. One problem was getting into a lift if there was room, then enduring the stops at each floor for the doors to open and close. "Why do people on the first floor without baggage catch a lift?". On a few occassions we resorted to the stairs. The problem did become a headache when we had to take the cases down upon leaving the hotel. Herein lies another problem. We had a late pickup for the airport and the cases had to be left in the lobby area until the coach arrived. A changing/curtesy room was available after 18:00.

Cleaners were constantly working around the hotel, Seemingly 24hrs a day. Late into the evening people could be found in the lobby/reception area. Sand was one of the big problems due to the hotel being located right next to the beach, coupled with a lack of wash towers immediately outside. The closest wash point located 100yds down the beach from the hotel. The rooms were cleaned daily. The towels changed, and the sand removed from the floor and balcony.

The choice of food was excellant. From breakfast to evening meal. The dining hall had 3 seperate self-service points. Therefore avoiding an endless queue for food.
Breakfast had a choice of Cereals, salad and 'full English'. Along with tea, coffee and juice. The only problem seemed to be the toaster, which may require the bread passing through more than once. Depending on how you like your toast.
Evening meals had the same amount of varied choice. Soup, Salad, Vegatables, Fish, Meat. Which included some dishes not normally eaten such as shark (aided by a neat little picture above the serving tray). Chips were however on the menu everyday. Deserts were also plentyful. A word of warning though, it seems that the Spanish like coating some sweets in a rather large dose of sugar. Also whilst drinks for breakfast were free we made the mistake on the first evening of taking no money into the dining hall for evening meal, where a small bar could be found for refreshments.
Anyone with kids will know how picky they can be, but ours always had enough choice to fill them up without resorting to a plate full of chips.
We did notice on a few occasions a queue of guests waiting to enter the dining hall. Usually around 45 minutes after it had opened. This was the same for breakfast or evening meal.

The hotel, as previously mentioned is located right next to the beach. Shops, bars and restaurants are all within a few minutes walk. 100yds down the road from the hotel you could catch a bus to nearby Salou, Cambrils or Tarragona. Whilst the town of La Pineda was a little further down the coast, a pleasant 10 minute walk. On one occasion we walked into Salou, which although took us around an hour (with the kids) the views along the coast were amazing.
The beach was great, with a rock-pool also outside the hotel. The only downside to the beach area was the large amount of disgarded cigarettes. The sea was warm and clear. We were pleased to find that with two small children that you had to go fairly far from the beach until the water began to get deep. In fact all four children spent more time in the sea than on the sand. We arrived in Spain with one air-bed and left with three!! Whilst one of the younger children found much enjoyment catching crabs in the rocks.
We were informed before travelling about some construction work across the road from the hotel. Our rooms though were on the other side. Some noise could be heard around the swimming pool or on the beach, but with the general noise created by people talking or the kids playing it was hardly a problem. The hotel is also only 20 minutes away from Reus airport.

Some of the staff did leave something to be desired. For a start the two head waiters in the dining hall met you with a hello, or good evening. And whilst I do speak some Spanish they seemed reluctant to engage in any local banter. Having said that there sole responsibility seemed to consist of marking 'x' on your reservation card. Also the lady on reception with whom I enquired about a curtesy room on our last day (spoken again in Spanish) replyed in English that there were none available. But a few moments later when I enquired with a gentleman collegue I came away with a key.
The cleaners were very pleasant, along with the couple who ran the bar in the dining hall.
The skinny blonde who takes charge during the evening entertainment leaves much to be desired. "Thompson, get her changed - read the other reports!!"

The usual excursions were available upon arrival from the holiday reps. However, we preferred to do our own thing, or make our own way there.
During the day swimming pool aerobics took place. There were plantly of sunbeds around the pool and spa. Tables and chairs were also plentiful. A word of warning though, the tables are metal and we all know what happens to metal when the sun shines on it for 6 or 7 hours!
In the afternoon various turns would be on. From a juggler to a clown, strictly for the kids though.
A kids club also operated. For once one of our kids actually went along and enjoyed it!!
The usual bingo took place in the evening together with themed events, such as 'Miss Golden Donaire Park'.

We would definitely visit this hotel again.

This is the 2nd time we have visited this hotel and were just as happy with it this year.

It has a fantastic location on the beach and our children had fun during the day searching for crabs in teh rock pools in the evenings flying a kite on the beach waiting for the entertainment to start.

That is my only complaint - the kiddies disco does not start until about 9:30 after 2 boring games of Bingo. By this time, the kids are a little bored.

I agree that the entertainment lady is very annoying after a week (she was there last year too and I was hoping she would have been gone this year!) But she gets everyone up and does her job.

There is a lack of lifts in the hotel, but that is a minor problem and the postitives far outweigh the negatives.

The hotel is always clean and staff can be seen at all hours of the day.

The food was lovely - my children are quite fussy, but there was something there for everyone. Even though we were there in Agust, it did not seem much busier than when we were there in May last year.

We travelled independantly and booked Ryan Air flights and booked the hotel with Thomson - saving us about

This is our family's second visit to this hotel and I will definately we returning next year. The hotel is in a prime location, right on the beach and is close to shops, promenade, waterparks and the local market. The bus service is excellent and just outside the hotel with a bus to Salou every 15 minutes.

The room is basic and small with a small balcony but who goes on holiday to sit in their room!!! The food is excellent with a carvary style that suits everyone. Lots of choice and plenty for the kids - even the picky ones!!

Staff can be a bit abrupt but to be honest I found the Thompsons Holiday Reps more off hand and they were only interested in you if you wanted to book a trip! The reps did not speak Spanish which was was useless if you were trying to read something - including signs that were posted in the hotel.
