I travelled in July 2005 but had to put 2006 on this form as 2005 is not listed, I felt so incensed by the report posted by John Carol Morgan Sophie Grace from Warwickshire, I felt compelled to post my views. Their travel date was 07 2005, the same time our party visited.

I can only say they absolutely did not stay at the same hotel as I did. I was part of a group of 7 adults and 4 children covering a wide age range and we went on the recommendation of family who had visited before and have gone back since. Some of the party staying in the appartments with others having rooms in the hotel. We spent the 2 middle weeks of July 05 there.

The family and staff could not have made us feel more welcome, nothing was too much trouble for them. The rooms and public areas were kept spotless at all times. We all ate in the restaurant on several occasions both lunch and dinner and the food was always first class.

The pool provided hours of fun for all of us along with everyone else at the hotel, and as with the rest of the complex was spotlessly clean, the pool was cleaned out on a daily basis.

Yes, the hotel is a little out of the way but within easy reach of larger resorts either by the hotel taxi, which we found very reasonable, or the dolmas buses.

The hotel mini bus collected us at the airport on our arrival and delivered us back in good time for our return flight at the end of a great holiday.

We arrived at the hotel early morning and the staff were there to great us and show us to our room's. The room's were basic but comfortable and clean. The breakfast was Turkish (which we expected). You could order different food which was enjoyable. We ate at the hotel at various times during the day and evening and always found it to a high standard. We also ate out and found the food good everywhere.

We did experience power cuts on our visit, but this was beyond anyone's control and was general right through the resort.

The staff were very friendly, also the family, the hotel was not to big and felt much like staying with friends rather than a hotel.

The pool was a nice size, although from a personal point of view I'd have prefered a shallower end!!! But the kid's loved it. It could have done with a few more sunbeds.

There was no entertainment as such, except for one evening when a Bar-b -q and Turkish night was put on (which we paid for) the belly dancer did'nt turn up, so they put on a mock Turkish wedding, which was good fun and enjoyed by everyone. The lack of entertainment did'nt bother us as we liked to walk into Hisaranou in the evenings.

A glass of coke was very expensive, as a pint of beer was 50 lire cheaper. That was everywhere not just in the hotel.

There was a problem with mosie's, but we bought spray and used it every night so the room's were o.k. But got bitten when we were outside.

The Dalyan trip is well worth doing on your last day, if you have a night flight, excellent value for money.

We enjoyed the whole experience, this was our first visit to Turkey and wont be the last. We will definatly be visiting this hotel again.

I have visited the hotel Gokcen with my family 28 times in the past 14 years, as you can imagine from this we are extremely happy with our holidays spent there.

The rooms whilst basic are kept very clean, the sheets are changed at least every two days and more often than not every day.

Last year they had built a new restaurant and bar which to my mind should put them up to a four star. The food in the restaurant is excellent with a wide variety of Turkish and continental meals at reasonable prices.

The pool and pool area is kept clean and the pool is cleaned every evening there are comfortable sun loungers and plenty of them.

The owners are fabulous friendly people who will go out of their way to help you and the staff have all been there for a number of years which says a lot for Mr and Mrs Gokce who own this hotel. I may be a little biased about the place because after so many visits its like going home to us, but it has everything we want from a holiday including spectacular mountain views, its easy to get around from nice quiet location and many people like ourselves go back year after year so we meet lots of friends when we go.

I would recommend the Gokcen to anyone.

The Hotel was located down a gravel track which was awful for pushchairs. Our wheels on the pushchair are broken.

The hotel owner I am sure will tell you that his Taxi is cheaper than the bus, believe me it is not so please do not believe him. If you are able to walk to the top of the hill then get a bus.

It is definitely not good for the disabled as access to and from this hotel is uphill (400metres), sometimes 45 degree slopes for 50 metres from all directions, with very loose, sharp gravel. I am a fit person, but nothing prepared me for the daily walk uphill with a pushchair.

If you have small children or have walking difficulties then please DO NOT stay at this hotel.

The hotel was supposedly cleaned daily but it was obviously not as sheets were still marked with my 2 year old daughters drinks after more than a week. When we arrived in the hotel there were still lots of rubbish under the beds of both rooms I had stayed in. The electrical sockets are very loose on the walls and does not conform to any standards. The showers are broken in most of the rooms also.

The food was awful, the worst I have ever had the experience of tasting. On one occasion my family and me had to wait 2 and a half hours for dinner, by which time my youngest daughter who is 2 years old had to be taken to bed because she was tired. She had no dinner and neither did I.

Several other families waited hours for their food also because they are not very good at organising dinners for more than 8 tables at a time which was forgiven but still, we did not eat again at the hotel.

The prices of the kiddies ice creams went up 3 times as the cheaper ones were what the children wanted so it was inevitable that they were to go up in price The beer went up 3 times in 2 weeks also. 3 pound for a beer in this hotel!!

Be careful because EVERYBODY was charged for food and drinks that were not purchased. We all had items on our bills that were not even bought. I can vouch for nearly everyone that stayed at this hotel. Do not use a tab, pay cash.

You will find that the owners and staff are nice to you for the first week but then they are just interested in taking your money. There was no entertainment for the 2 weeks we were there (unless a crappy barbeque counts which was rubbish)

The pool was clean when we arrived but this did not last. The owner seems to control how much electricity is used on the premises (when there is any electricity. There were daily power cuts and one cut lasted from 4 in the afternoon till midday the next day so people couldn't use hair driers etc) so the pool pumps were only turned on to fill the 2 inches of water missing from the pool at the end of the day.

The day we left you could not even see the black lines on the bottom of the pool because it was so cloudy and the water was very warm. We used other pools in the area and they were freezing cold and spotlessly clean. The scum that built up on the edge of the pool and on the water surface was disgusting. The oils from suncream etc.

I knew of at least 15 people that suffered ear infections because of this pool and it costs a lot of money to get treatment at the chemist or doctors so beware!!

A couple we met in our hotel have taken a sample of water to be tested by a laboratory to see exactly what was in the water such was their concern over health and safety.

I would class this hotel as the worst I have had the pleasure of seeing in 20 years of travelling all over the world and would definitely not recommend it to anyone.

The person that saw fit to call this hotel a 'Jewel in the Crown' needs shooting because it most definitely is NOT.

I will definitely not be going to this hotel or the area again. It is filthy. The people just want as many English pounds as they can get I have been to Turkey 6 times and 5 years in a row and have vowed never to return again.

This hotel has confirmed this to me in my head. I am sure that other people will also say the same if they know about this site

I have visited the Gokcen on 3 seperate occasions and it cannot be faulted.

It is spotlessly clean, the staff and family are great, the pool is large and well maintained and the location is great with stunning mountain views.

For value for money and an enjoyable holiday I would give this a five. It's also worth noting that if you want to stay here it is much cheaper to book flights and accomodation direct and not through a travel agent.
