We stayed at the Peurto Tahiche Appartments in Costa Teguise Lanzarote.
Had a super holiday,with view of sea from room,marred only by failure of staff to clean the room properly, I looked under the bed and wished I hadn't! Sunbeds locked overnight,released at 9.30am,not enough of them,resulting in queue starting as early as 8.15am. On a self catering holiday cooking area totally inadequate, but excellent and cheap restaraunts within a hundred yards.
Location excellent,kettles and toasters free subject to deposit.Pay TV in each room. However one member of staff could have been a little more co-operative at times, and a little more polite. Would go again but take my own dusters and cleaning cloths.

We stayed self catering in Puerto Tachiche for a fortnight july/august. Two adults and two children and I must unfortunately agree with many of the reports. The apartments are very tatty, poor self catering cooking facilities hardly any crockery and cutlery, we had a rust patch in the bottom of the bath and a fridge that looked like it hadnt been defrosted for a year. After complaining staff patched over the rust spot in then bath and changed the fridge. The one bedroom which was occupied by the kids smelt like a mixture of old fustiness and urine. Plug sockets hung of the walls, mattress was ripped and torn, settee cushions ripped, skirting boards fell of the wall. On the plus side the locations was very central and convenient with excellent local restaurants, bars, supermarkets. The pool area was very nice, clean, kids clubs and daytime entertainment excellent, also entertaiment every night, with a kids mini disco at 8.30 every night. In fact my kids aged 5 and 6 had a wonderful time.

The apartments were in a good location. Central to the town shops, pubs and entertainment.
If we had any problems in our room, we went to reception and they got someone round to fix them.
It was not a top quality complex but the kids club and their night entertainment was good. There were different shows on every night and the kids thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
That is why we are going back next year.

Its a great place. Sun shining and brilliant walks on the beach.
The staff was well funny.
I pick 3 stars on cleaning because the two stars that I have not put on were cockroaches. The other 3 were a cleaner coming in every day.

I'd like to warn people about these apartments.
My wife and two children stayed here for one week and, although it was not the worst holiday I have had in my life, it was certainly the dirtiest accomodation.
I agree entirely with the report posted by Sue.
There were cockroaches in the bedroom, in the main apartment and also in the bathroom. I woke up one morning to find one of the things crawling in my hair!
The bathroom was shabby and the whole apartment needed a revamp because the fixtures and fittings were in a bad state of repair. Even though the maids came in to sweep the floor and change the towels every other day, it was obvious that's all they did - they certainly didn't dust the wardrobe shelves because the top one was caked in dust.
The location of the apartments was excellent. The hotel staff were average and the hotel did lay on entertainment for the kids on a night. The hotels pool and other facilities were good. But for us at least, the good points were outweighed by the lack of cleanliness in the actual apartments themselves.
Regarding some of the other reviews - all I can say is that hygene standards vary considerably if some people could describe the actual living accomodation as 'clean'.

On arrival to the appartments, we thought we had done really well to get the holiday for the price we did. The reception area was very swanky and sparkly, and we expected the same of the appartments. However, this was not to be the case.
Despite reports that the appartments had been refurbished, the only thing which seemed new was the laminate flooring. The kitchen and bathroom units were very shabby, and there was a funny smell in the bathroom, a bit like blocked drains. We weren't too disheartened though, as we got the holiday last minute. We would have been if we had paid anymore for the holiday.
The comments regarding the haphazard visits by the cleaning staff were well founded.

When I booked this and read the reports I was ready to change the hotel, but I'm glad I didn't. The apartment was well equipped with all new appliances, although the cleaners could do with a lesson in how to clean a room properly, it wasn't dirty as some reports have suggested. The apartments are really geared towards families and therefore I would not recommend this for friends going on holiday for a rest!! I found the staff very helpful when we needed to report a problem with our water and this was fixed in 10 minutes. I did hear from other holidaymakers about a number of burglaries and having problems with the condition of their rooms. Maybe we were lucky or maybe some people just go on holiday to find fault with things??!!. Of all the people we spoke to when they had complained about their rooms alternatives had been found. The pool area is big and clean and the pools were well maintained, although you have to be an early bird to get the sunbeds. For the price I paid for this holiday I was more than satisfied.

After reading the comments posted about this hotel I was worried about staying there. We we arrived we were very surprised and couldn't understand the comments, we then discovered that the hotel has been closed for 4 months and completely refurbished and decorated.
The cleaners came into our room every day except wednesdays and thursdays, their days off. We got clean towels every day, they made the beds, swept the floor and cleaned the bathroom.
Everywhere else within the hotel seemed to be kept clean, the toilets by the reception, the reception area, and the gardens.
We found the food in the hotel to be up to standard with plenty of variety to suit everyone, there was only one night when there was nothing we liked so we ate out.
The location of the hotel was ok only a short walk to shops and bars and about 10 mins to the beach.
The hotel staff that we dealt with were friendly and helpful. We did not stay in the hotel for the entertainment we didn't fancy any of it.
During the whole week of our stay we only saw a couple of cockroaches, none in our room though. Cockroaches are part and parcel of the canary islands.
The first part of our week, the hotel was very quiet but began to get busy with families during the second half. I got the feeling that the staff will not be able to cope during the high season and can see the hotel going down slightly, but not as bad as the comments of last year.

The hotel was not very clean at all. The cleaners came in every day but not Sunday and one day in the week they only mop the floor i only had my bed change twice in 2 weeks and the bins were not always changed. The location was good near the beach and the shops. The staff at the hotel were not very helpful and the entertainment was not very good. i would not go back i think it is more for older people.
