If you are visiting during the winter months then ask reception for extra warm blankets for the cold nights and also ask for the WiFi code ....
Plenty of food places to try although buffet places charge high costs on soft drinks with your meal ..

Pool side apartments mean kids can just go and play while being watched from the apartment.

Playa Del Carmen is a very friendly resort with lots do do for all ages. You can also go on the "Grand Tour" of the entire island and volcanoes, or ride on the Glass Bottom boat or get a ferry over to Fuertoventura from the old harbour (15 minutes walk or 3€ taxi ride). Would definitely go again. It's a real shame that the kids in the clubs have such a reckless attitude, because they are repsonsible for most of the litter, most of which is cleaned up. The locals do the best they can.

According to local lads who'd lived there nineteen years it's the best all round resort for holidaymakers and I wouldn't disagree.
There are three main area's the bar/club section, the beach front restaurant area and Marina part with a new shopping center just back from the sea. Some very nice bar/resturants by the marina with lovely sea views not to be missed.
Take some warm clothes though it's very chilly out at night but not for long it was warmer last night than a week ago.
We had a trip to the water park and go-kart track not far away to keep the lad happy as there ain't a great deal for the kids but the beach is supurb and well life guarded if that's all you need to keep the kids happy.

This was my first visit to Puerto del Carmen and I really enjoyed it. After living in Gran Canaria for 6 months this resort was much cleaner. The was a good choice of entertainment and restaurants.
The beach was lovely and the sea was really clear. We spent most of our time down at the main beach. We were highly entertained by the guys that sold the ice creams, very funny!!
I would definately return to Lanzarote again and would choose Puerto del Carmen for sure!

I found the resort very clean on the front a few little back streets were littered but only like home.
The entertainment in PDC was excellent we were in a mixed age group after meeting up with other friends out there ranging from 19 up to 47. As for pubs there is a wide range from small friendly tavernas to rock bars to night clubs which we sampled all. One excellent pub is up in the harbour called Flannagans top class drag artist on if you want a really funny good night and don't mind a bit of swearing go there it's fantastic and you don't have to pay in unlike some others.
Beer prices in PDC aren't too bad but watch out for the buy one get one free if you have to keep receipt prices are high for first drink then go back to bar with receipt for other.
Found some really good eating places. Good breakfast at Ye Old Spanish inn on front. Good drinking bar called Palms on front they also have live betting so ladies leave blokes there and go shop... .Also really good Chinese up by Corner Garden (Hong Kong)exel 4 course meal for 12.50E with bottle wine in. We are very picky when it comes to food but found it very good and clean you can have set for 2 off a menu but if there is somthing on you don't like they will change it. Mmmmmmmm missing it already.

What I want from a holiday is entertainment and for me this resort is a little quiet compared to Tenerife.
If you are in the old part of peurto del carmen then you must visit the drag show, not sure what it is called but you go down a small alleyway and the drag bar is at the bottom of some steps.
First impressions not good, but get a seat and wait for the show to start, I have got to say the best show I have seen ever and it is also free. Children also welcome.

PDC is a great location for a busy, lively holiday. Ideal with friends or singles I'm not so sure families and couples would apprecaite it quite so much in the evening.
It does seem to be getting somewhat spoilt by trashy souvenir shops and louder and louder nightlife in the New Town, especially in the last couple of years. It's also spreading outwards and there are bars/apartments where there used to be open spaces. I suspect it wont be too long before it reaches Matagador and becomes once huge long strip.
Entertainment is great as always and very lively. Beach small and black sand, nothing to write home about really.

Perfect! Everything you could want and more from a resort.
If visiting Puerto del Carmen be sure to try out the Rancho Texas night, this entertainment as it's best.

The Old Town is not majorly lively in the evenings but plenty of choice for eats and drinks and some lovely restaurants down near the Harbour. You can get a cab into the New Town with the famous strip for about €4 and then its Party time!!
I have been to Lanzarote now 5 times and am becoming more and more inclined to the Old Town.. There is a shopping centre nearby also with the best Zara also some v. good shoe, swimwear and clothing stores.
