I went to Salou for my birthday with my family and friends it was nice of the chief to cook my birthday cake.

The hotel food wasnt edible it was very cold and wasnt cooked.

The bar staff were horrible they would snatch the money out of your hand and not smile. A lady who was sitting by me ordered a pizza and sent it back 4 times because it was frozen inside.

The location was good because we was in the centre and there was lots of people and pubs there the entertainment in the hotel was good for the kids but there was a bar down the raod called the Cavern and it is really good and there is a English pub over the road to the hotel.

The hotel was very clean because it would get cleand every day. Portaventura was really good but I would not go back 2 the hotel

I came back from this hotel last night and I have to say I was very impressed.
We had a room on the fourth floor overlooking the pool area, and that was a minor down point that the entertainment didn't finish most nights til gone midnight so sleeping early was impossible!!!! But it never bothered us lying in in a morning even with people round the pool.

The lifts were unpredictable but never had to wait more than 5 minutes! Althought the hotel director did point out that there was a third lift.....don't think many people knew about it though.

My first impression (at 4 in the morning - due to a plane delay) was the cleanliness, and that never changed. every days the beds were made and every other changed completely. Fresh towels daily. The maids even managed to peek in some days when sleeping in and never woke us.

The staff were every efficient and friendly (except Ocsar the Dining Room Manager who I never saw smile!) Always a hello and a smile. The barsatff even joined in with a group of pre adolescent girls who insisted on following them everywhere.

The bar had Happy hour nightly from half 8 til 10. Bonus!!!! And entertainment every night but some nights they weren't "proper" shows so enjoyment i think depends on how much you join in.

The food lacked a little in variety but I think that is because they are aware of the predominantly english guests - chips with everything! But I enjoyed the more mediterranean alternatives - loved the veal. My son (5) thought that it was great that in an evening there was a separate childrens servery. The food was plentiful and carefully monitored to make sure nothing ever ran out, both by the floor staff and the Head chef. Drinks in an evening had to be paid for which I think is a little tight, maybe free soft drinks and coffees should be provided. All the meals are buffet style which is great and the whole atmosphere very relaxed. They also provide a picnic service for people on their last day or who plan to be out and miss meal times.

Checkout is 10am, which when taking an evening flight is a bit frustrating but understandable when the Thomas Cook changeover occur all day Friday. But a room for luggage is provided. Guests can either pay for a late checkout, 26 euro til 6pm or 8pm. Or as we did, used a courtesy room for a shower and change, though reception wouldn't confirm its availability til late afternoon.

I'd be more than happy to go back, have even looked at prices for next year, and would highly recommend it. Its good value for money, ideally located, in between one of the beaches and the main shopping drag.

We stayed at the San Diego hotel Salou where do I start . On arrivel looked ok as we arrived early morining two days later there was ants on one bed on floor reported it nothing done. More ants on cupboard beds reported it again to a rep promised another room next morining at 11 went to see which room, was told they had no room spare to come back next morning. After a fuss hours later a room on 4 floor enough space for 3 single beds with 4 of us they put another bed in.

Lifts out of order. Food terrible. Entertainment rubbish. Things walking out of room by their own unless ants carried them on they'er backs.

Fawlty towers could have done a better job of running this hotel.

We also travelled in Sept and are now wondering if we stayed in the same hotel as the people below! Hotel was very clean with daily maid service and staff were exceptionally helpful as there was a problem with our booking on Day 1.

Food was fabulous with buffet style with English bacon one morning and english sausage the next and also a chf cooking fresh pancakes and fried eggs.

Food at lunchtime and in the evening was also excellent with chef cooking burgers, hotdogs, fresh chops or chicken fillet etc and fresh fish. Variety on buffet was also v good.

Entertainment geared very much towards small children but happy hour was from 8.30 to 10.00pm which was great.

Beach at top of street much quieter and handier than main beach as only 5 mins walk. Main street only 3 mins walk.

Bus from airport was excellent if you are making your own way as it waits outside from every flight arrival and drops you outside your hotel for 5.50Euros.

Excellent hotel and we have stayed in many hotels in Spain and would rate food here as best selection and quality and would recommend to anyone!!!!!!!!!!!

This was the first time me and my family had been to Spain and I think it will be the last. We had saved all year for this holiday and we thought if we pay a little bit extra for the holiday by going half board we would have more spending money for all of us.

Well most of the money went on food because the food in the hotel was horrible. For the first 3 days we all were eating at the hotel but we just could not take the food any more. Every night the same food every morning the same food it was like the film ground hog day with is ok if you are German or Dutch or you just like smoked food. they was a chef there at a hot plate and one night I thought I will try a steak, wrong the steak was not cooked and I mean it was still mooing. So most of the spending money went on eating out which is not cheap.

The resort its self was nice but most of the Spanish were arrogant. There is a nice place called Masala the food is nice and the staff are nice. we all went to the nou camp it cost us 120 euros and it was rubbish thonig there it was all over in 20 minus

We have just returned from a 2 week holiday at this hotel.

The hotel is in a great location on a fairly quiet road, one bar directly across the road, The Victoria, which was quite good had bingo each evening which we never went to I hasten to add, but it caters for everyone. After the bingo there was karaoke and disco n between singers then about 11 a different act each night. Plenty of bars within a few minutes walk, and beach about 5 min walk.

The rooms are quite small and basic, but plenty of hot water and air conditioning and clean.

The food was very impressive, obviously catering for different tastes but always plenty of choice, and a grill where you could have food freshly cooked by the chef in the restaurant, mornings he always cooked to order fried eggs, pancakes, and toasties and in the evenings always burgers hot dogs 1 meat choice and 1 fish choice.

Me and my family stayed in this hotel for 7 nights, it was ok, not perfect and not a 3 star plus.

The food was ok but it got a bit boring after 3 days as it was same old type of food and loads of chips burgers, sausages.

Put it this way it's nothing to run home about and tell you're mates how nice your hotel was.

We stayed at the San Diego hotel for one week. The hotel was clean and the staff were friendly enough. The hotel is located on a quiet street just round the corner from a nice cove with a beach. The rooms are quite small but adequate and clean with air conditioning. Maids came into the room every day to clean and make the beds.

The restaurant part is nice and big and had a good range of foods with each night having a different theme. I liked the grill where you could get fresh food made at night and at breakfast. The waiting staff were nice and friendly and very efficient at cleaning up etc. The bar upstairs was open all day and night till midnight. There is a happy hour from 8.30 pm to 10.00 pm. The mini disco is great for young kids but the entertainment after wasn't up to much. The Flamenco show and the Hawaiian one was ok though. There are plenty of bars near to the hotel though if you fancy a change

We arrived at the hotel and from the outside it looked shocking, it was clean inside though. The pool has wood around it which gives you splinters and the staff didn't really speak great engligh. The cleanliness of the rooms was very good because they were cleaned everyday but the cleanliness by the pool was horrible, a baby pooed in the pool and it wasn't cleaned, before this it was very murky. We went half board, the breakfast was of an ok standard but the evening meal was not edible.

When we arrived at the hotel we had to wait about 3 hours for them to get our room ready but this didn't bother us as we waited in the bar.

When we finally got into our room we noticed it was very small and our balcony was facing the back of another hotel.

The pool area was pretty good although there were no lifeguards.

The rooms were clean and tidy and maids came in to clean every day. The rooms also had aircooling which was very good but on the first night I left it on and woke up shivering and had to open the balcony door to let some heat in!!!

The entertainment was very poor and they played the same music over and over again!! but this didn't matter as we were out most of the time.

The food was very nice ans there was a grill where you watch the person cook what you have chosen.

Overall the hotel is very good and I will recommend it to anyone!!

P.S: Make sure you visit Port Aventura or the water park as they were both excellent!!
