This hotel is not a four star, the rooms were clean but it way, way too overcrowded.

If you want a quiet relaxing family holiday do not come here. It is very British orientated (Steak and Kidney Pie for evening meal !) It cater's and probably well for the cheap and cheerful.

Everything is queing, there's even a mile queue for the pool to open at 08:30 for the German trait of towels on sunbeds. Then a 15min wait for the orange juice machine at breakfast. Then to top it off the rep was aggressive and non helpful. Lastly the aircon in the rooms is a useful as a chocolate teapot it certainly is not chilled and even the reception admitted they turn it off at night!

It's Butlins in the sun - enjoy !

p.s Mind the slippery floor

Our first impression was that we had been dropped off at the wrong hotel. We arrived very late at night and so we would need to wait until the morning for a better impression. In the morning it was clear that the Qawra Palace certainly wasn't like the pictures in the brochure - indeed it looked like the main road had been airbrushed out!

Our room had a sea view (5th floor), but the bath was badly stained with rust, the air con didn't really work, the fridge had defrosted and the wardrobe doors were broken.

The indoor pool had been drained and was cordoned off, although this was fixed after a couple of days. you couldn't get a bed by the pool and the pool was very overcrowded.

The maid service was good albeit very early (8:30 most mornings). However, the most disappointing part was the staff and their attitude. Perhaps just part of the Maltese culture (although I am assured by friends who visit Malta every year that this is not the case). The staff at reception were abrupt and rude, not just to us but other customers around us. I was actually quite shocked at times. Service in the Caf

On the first night we arrived the hotel seemed ok. Reception clean, receptionist quite freindly even the bedrooms looked clean. Next morning at breakfast we had tea plates to put your breakfast on but you had to search through the pile to find a clean one. Then when we moved along the queue to the food we were glad of the small plate be cause all the food was awful.

On one day there were no plates in the plate warmer thing and you could see what was at the bottom,it turned our stomachs. I dont think they have ever thought to clean it.

Going down for dinner got worse as you come out the lift to go to the dining room there was an awful smell of either blocked drains or sewage! Not some thing you want to smell just before you eat. we put this down to the dining room being under the road outside the hotel.

The out door swimming pool was very salty and looked dirty and was very crowded too small for the hotel. The evening entertaintment at times was good but is an accident waiting to happen as it is held right near the pools which are not fenced off or covered at night so you have to follow your children everywhere.

We had read reports on this hotel before we went so made sure we had seaview rooms thats the only nice thing I can say.

If you go to this hotel ask for a seaview or you will get a view of only other guests balconies with towels on them.

The bathroom was very small with a big damp patch on the ceiling the plaster in the room was flaking it is very tired indeed and is in desperate need of pulling down and rebuilding.

Other guests mainly the teenagers there had no respect and left litter lying about everywhere which never seemed to be removed.

Don't book any trips through the office attached to the hotel they are only after your money. We booked to see some fireworks and at 11.30pm they still had not started and the children fell asleep so we went back to the coach and never got to see any fireworks at 3am we got back to the hotel if the booking agent had told us this we would not have gone keeping a 4 and a 5 year old up that late is just not done!

We didnt know what to expect when we arrived at the Qwara Palace having read so many diverse reports on it.

First impressions were good, we had a room on the 7th floor with a sea view. The room was clean with plenty enough room for 3. A large kingsize bed and a camp bed for our child. It was a bit noisy at night but all the music stopped at midnight which was fine. The main source of noise was the air conditining unit which made a lot of noise but didnt produce much cold air. The switches had all been taken off the unit so it was impossible to increase the cool air. The bathroom was small but adequet.

The food was ok in the restaurant, small plates and surly staff. The worst thing was the air conditioning in the restaurant - it didnt work. In the end we had to eat outside the hotel as it was just too hot in the restaurant to eat, you dont expect to eat whilst mopping your brow of sweat evrey 30 seconds. On complaining of this we were told that it was August and what did we expect! - a better attitude more focused on customer service would have been nice.

The telephone in the hotel room didnt work. The patio door didnt lock.

The out door pool should be closed down. We have never stayed anywhere before were people were constantly slipping over and hurting themselves. The pool is too small for the number of guests. The ladder steps going into the pool are coming away from the wall. The queue for sunbeds started at 7.00am and the doors didnt open unitl 8.00am There were not enough sunbeds and half of them were broken. This hotel simply cannot cope when it is full to capacity. It is not a 3 *** hotel. A 2** at a push.

We were lucky having a sea veiw we felt so sorry for all the customers who didnt. They had no privacy as the rooms looked into one another, no view except a tatty crazy golf course (if they were lucky) or a view of other peoples beach towels. We have seen better looking tenament blocks.

We will not stay at the Qwara Palace again.

I am shocked to read some of these reviews. Thirteen of us travelled to this hotel in August 2005 we thought it was great value for money.

The food was that good we often had two of three helpings even the kids found something they liked. We travel abroad a lot and this is amongst the best food we have had. Rooms were cleaned daily.

Staff were most helpful when we arrived we had 5 rooms on the 8th floor and as some of the children were in rooms without an adult we asked to be moved for safety, next morning 5 rooms were found for us on the 2nd floor.

Hotel is in a nice location only a few minuits walk from the lively resort of Buggiba.

Entertainment most nights was good they have to cater for different age groups so cant please everyone all the time. My husband and his mate booked a massage at hotel with Rita very good try one.

To get around Malta jump on a bus or hire local jeep if you dare? There is plenty to do in Malta as long as you get about and visit places.

Enjoyed the whole experience, would use this hotel again recommended.

Hotel is very clean, the staff seem to be cleaning from early morning right into the late afternoon. Our room was cleaned every day. Even the days we left the do not disturb note out. The maid came back about lunch time.

The food was quite good, if a bit boring - however it was never hot.

The staff work hard, Jorden who worked the behind the bars was particularly helpful and aways had a smile and a quick word for us.

Entertainment in the evening was ok if you like to listen to music. Pleasant enough. We went out most evenings.

We would have liked some hints on how the hotel worked. Eg to get a drink you ordered and signed for it the took the receipt to the bar.

Like everybody we were a bit worried, but surprised on arrival. We were given rooms on the 2nd floor which were ok, but a little small for 4 adults. They were cleaned every day with towels changed every couple of days. Our rooms faced the courtyard, but it is not as bad as written about.

The food was fine if you are not picky about things to try, but the children

Me and my family were worried about going to this hotel after reading previous reports but when we got there we were happy to find what a lovely hotel it was!

The pool was big with another 2 smaller pools and a wading pool for babies excellent for kids. The food was very nice diferent things on different nights and even a kids menu.

The enertainment was good with lots of music all day. The hotel is right on the beach and is excellent for snorkeling its a must! the water sports were also excellent.

We loved this hotel and whoever didnt must be blind! It is excellent!!!

Any one who reviews this hotel as being anything but lovely must be crazy. We arrived home last night after having a great holiday.

The hotel was lovely and very clean, food was delicious every meal time there was a wide and wonderful variety of food availible with something for every one. (Both gained half a stone)and the staff were very friendly. You couldn't possibly go wrong with this hotel.

The only things I could possibly fault are the air conditioning in the restaurant (only in evening) and the entertainment is aimed at the older generation.

Overall this holiday was wonderful.

Oh and snorkelling is a must, the sea at the front of the hotel is crystal clear with loads of different fishes to look at.

We were in malta at this hotel, the location is really nice, very close to bars restaurants, pools, etc.

The food and hotel service where really good, all of the staff where happy to serve our needs, always with a smile.

We hired a car from laurence he is situated next door to the hotel, he was very helpful and gave us an idea where to go and what to do.

The price for the rental was very cheap. We also used the hotel coffee shop they have very good coffee and cream cackes, the waiter we liked was vito he kept telling us his jokes..

Overall the holiday was great and the weather was really hot.
