The resort is quite and overall no problems but I have been once and would not visit again. That was the type of holiday I was after that year which is a nice change.

Alvor is a great place to stay. We have stayed here twice and would definitely recommend it.

Alvor is a lovely little fishing village. It has numerous gift shops and places to eat and drink. Most streets are cobbled and the people are friendly. It is very clean.

Alvor town was a 10 minute walk downhill with plenty of reasonably prices restaurants and shops. The beach is really out of the way in the middle of nowhere which is a pity as it is lovely. only went once and couldn't get a taxi back from it so had to walk along a long dusty road in the baking sun to get back into town.

The town of Alvor is very beutiful with the biggest beach I have ever seen never hade a bad meal all the time we were there lots of bars and restaraunts to choose from.

Have just returned from Alvor and found the resort really lovely. It's perfect for families who like to do their own thing and not full of bright lights and night life. The town itself is beautiful and the beach is worth a visit. There is a pizza place on the main street which makes the nicest pizzas ever and four of us got fed there for under €30 including drinks. The singer in the Black Stove irish bar is fantastic. Apparently the town grinds to a halt at the end of September though. A visit to the square in the town at night is reccommended as there are Indians playing pan pipes and doing indian dancing. We had a great holiday and would return to Alvor.

The resort was very clean, loads of bars in the centre of alvor for everyone. The beach was freezing the first week but got warmer the second, either that we just got used to it! The water was quite choppy most days though so wouldn't recommend it for small kids.
Nothing much on the beach except a few huts with drinks unless you walked down to the coves at the end.
The beach was very quiet after one oclock we were the only ones on it sometimes which was brill, could play footie with kids etc. I would visit the resort again, bringing other members of my family with me.

Restaurants we strongly recommend 'The Cavery'very friendly service and excellent service. It took us about 30 minutes to walk to the beach and in the heat it seemed about three hours. The beach is very clean. Be aware of the drivers we nearly got run over twice they drive like nutcases. Whilst we were there we visited 'splash and slide'and it is well worth going into the town to buy the tickets as they are nearly half price compared to the hotel reception.

Alvor is a lovely destination. Great selection of bars and restaurants, and great beaches.
One for families with small children (easily entertained) or couples looking for quiet holiday. The rowdiest it gets is a few bars with live music in town centre. But even then the customers are often couples or families. If you want 10 pints of lager and a nightclub then you are in the wrong town!
