Arrived at hotel at 2:30am with family of 4, given our hotel room, first floor, arrived in hotel room, the heat and stench from the room blew us away, there was 4 picinic baskets, with our food in, this was full of condensation the food in these baskets were rotting, had to find a dustbin and get rid of the food, arrived back into hotel room to find that the aircon was not working, couldnt open the window as there was creeping plants all over the window, no view,no balcony facing a car park, room stunk,, appaling, returned to reception complaining and refusing this room, night staff would not help at all "said we would have to wait till 9am in morning, had to sleep in this room, we all woke up dehidrated feeling dizzy and sick due to the humitity of this room, asked for another room, reception informed me that we would have to pay 4 euros a day for pool view and balcony for 6 days, charged me 96 euros or stay in this room, hotel rep thompsons declaired that this is happening all the time every day,, only 6 rooms in the hotel like this and if you are traveling with a family of 4 you would be guaranteed one of these rooms unless you payed upgrade after several arguments and getting upset had no choice, but to pay.. as soon as i paid the upgrade they gave me keys to a top floor pool view, balcony and a fantastic room, this room had our names on it,, BE AWARE this hotel doesnt accept requests unless you PAY... I have made a complaint to Thompsons Head Office concerning this matter..
after all this issue and upset, we ended having a good holiday,, pity that this situation is not made aware to people that book this hotel..

Arrived at about 2am on Sunday morning. Guy at check in was very nice. Didn't get remote control for air conditioning on the first night so it was VERY hot, but made sure I paid my 15euro deposit for one the next day!
Hotel was lovely and clean, thought the staff did well considering how busy it was.
It was almost impossible to get a sun bed around the pool until about 4pm, but that was probably due to the fact that we didn't get up much before lunchtime!!
Food was pretty good, not always a great deal of choice but always something that we could eat.
Great location for everything.
I look forward to returning to the Ambassador Playa next year.

Me,my husband and 9 yr old daughter all stayed at this hotel.

I found the food to be very good and have no compaints about it.

The pool area is terrible and we never got a sunbed so went over to the lovely pool at the hotel Calypso.

The rooms were cleaned every day and were a bit small but we managed ok.

I have travelled with Thomas Cook for a few years now and have always had a free fridge for my husbands medication as he is diabetic. This hotel would not let us have one unless we paid 30 euros. I have now realised that if you request something, you won't get it unless you pay for it.

I requested a fridge and a pool view on a low floor. I got the low floor but was put at the back of the hotel, I now wish I'd had asked for a quiet view then I might have been put at the front.

I found the staff to be very helpful and friendly.

The hotel was spotless.

This hotel is very good in a central position.

You have to be out of your room by 12 0 clock in the day if you are going home, but the rooms never seemed to be ready and even though we arrived at 1 pm we had to wait an hour and a half, which is what I had previously read.

Hi another great stay at the ambassador playa hotel i cant fault this hotel for cleanliness at all.And for the staff i have found them all very nice apart from the 1 guy that gives out the water and juice he tried to short change us so watch out .Hotel in great location everything very central.

hotel was fine food was ok the only problem we had was it was very noisey at night especially young ones comin in at 3 in the mornin shouting and screeming in corridors! also u can hear everything in the rooms next door especially if they had kids! and were up 2 stuff!!! good location had a good hol but would not go back 2 benidorm 4 a few years!!

ravelled to this hotel for 2 weeks from the 11th july,with my husband and 3 sons sister and brother in law and their 3 kids,didnt know what to expect,we shouldnt have worried about anything,the hotel was lovely,beds and towels changed daily,rooms adequate,pools where lovely,food was lovely,something for everyone,

great location right in the heart of levante,5 minute walk from the beach,went to the beach a couple of times but really busy,so found ourselves heading back to the pool
entertainment in the hotel had something for everyone,starting of with the guy from hotel playing some songs on guitar,then their was some kids entertainment,clown etc..then their would be 2 othe racts very proffesional always enjoyed them and so did the kids.It doesnt matter where you want to go their if you have kids with you they are welcome in all the bars and clubs,
Straight across the road from us was a bar called john and josephs,this was great we would go there for an hour during the day were the kids played pool and air hokey etc,got them out the sun for an hour,then at night they always wanted to go their for some more games,very reasonably priced to,1 euro for a pint and 1 euro for a coke,we were full board so didnt eat out,although if you had to eat out in here was very well priced for food to.
my only downfall about this hotel is that we had to go and wait in a que at 8 oclock every morning to get sunbeds,the doors didnt open to the pool area til 8.30,but with so many people wanting a sunbed we had no option than to go and que for them,its a bit of a stampede cause as soon as they open the doors everyone barges passed you in the hope of getting a sunbed,quite funny...
all in all we had a great holiday and will definetly return again,hope this has help you make up your mind about going to the ambassador hotel,please dont be put off with other reviews,go and have a great time thats what we did

We arrived at the hotel at about 11pm we went to playa 1 and were told to go to playa 2either through the pub area or all the way round, we received our key to a room on the 1st floor when we opened the door it had 4 beds and window not what i was expecting, i went to complain but was told there was nothing they could do they were fully booked, i then went and told my partner to come with me and after a bit shouting and tell them to put me in a another hotel as i was not staying there, they told me to come back in the morning and he would see what he could do. We went down and were giving a key for a room on the 3rd floor with a balcony. RESULT. Food not that good if you were a rabbit you would be laughing, Salad Salad Salad, i went for chips and was told they would not be ready for 5 mins. Overall good holiday but would not stay there again.

This review is a little late following our holiday in June but I feel I have to reply following on from comments on a couple of recent reviews.
I have stayed at this hotel several times, booking at times with Travel Agents, other times with Accomodation providers such as Travel Republic and on the last occasion, direct with the hotel. Whatever manner of booking I have always been told that there is an extra charge for a pool view room and have paid this willingly as I consider the charge well worth it.
Good luck to those who don't pay but get their 'REQUEST' granted but to complain when it isn't granted is over the top when others have paid extra to get what they want.
Obviously we find the hotel absolutely fine as we have returned several times.
As indicated we have never found cleanliness any issue.
Food is as good as any 3* hotel (and some 4* hotels) we have stayed in. We have been going to Benidorm for about 20 years, last year 5 times. Always found a varied choice in the Ambassador. Best food was in hotels where the location was a bit out from the entertainment.
Location is ideal for us as mobility now limited. Some noise outside the hotel in the early hours but never any disturbance inside the hotel. We are generally back in our room by midnight and like to sit on the balcony for an hour watching those with more energy than us enjoying their night.
We found all the staff pleasant and helpful, particularly the Restaurant Manager, who, for the Christmas Gala Dinner, arranged a meal to suit my allergy when officially there was no choice. THis was in contrast to the Pelicanos/Ocas at a previous Christmas said 'Take it or leave it'
Entertainment. I have only given a 2 purely because (a) Never stayed in for it.
(b) Didn't think it was what I would have liked.
Would I go there again ? Already booked

Just reurned and I must say that this is the cleanest hotel I have ever stayed in, the food is above average for Benidorm hotels with the breakfast (especially the real sausages) being the best meal, the staff were so professional and friendly ,(especially the resturant manager)with perhaps the exception of the reception staff who were not very welcoming, the entertainment at the hotel was mostly first class with professional shows that do other venues and something to suit all ages, the big downside was the pool area which was just not nearly big enough and the only reason that would perhaps put me off returning here.

We stayed in the ambassador playa for the first time and found it a clean friendly place to be.Towels and bedding changed daily.food to a good standard for a 3 star,plenty of choice.the restuarant manager was very friendly and helpful.if you want a good laugh get a pool view and watch them fly out for the sunbeds each morning as soon as the pool attendants had finished cleaning it in a morning.The pool and surrounding were cleaned to a high standard twice daily no complaints.would definately stay here again if it was in a different area.
