Have just returned from Jamie 1 and I am glad to be home.

The hotel is lovely, the swimming pool and outdoor areas are cleaned all the time. Rooms are a nice size and the maid service was very good. The only bad bit about the room was that our balcany looked out on local flats, and a very dirty swimming pool belonging to the flats. We complained that we had no table on the balcony and they had one delivered within 10 minutes.

So why was I glad to return, well the food was terrible. It was always the same, nothing different, nothing changed. I didn't think that the plates & cutlery were very clean. Had breakfast twice, dinner three times. Every time we ate here we were sick. We arrived on the Monday evening and did not have dinner. The following day we had breakfast and evening meal, felt sick in the night, was still sick the next day so didn't have breakfast the next morning. Went to evening meal and had 'Turkey' which was actually pork. Was not impressed, felt ill again in the night. The following day had some toast for breakfast only, had evening meal, was so ill that night we didn't go out. Did not eat in the resteraunt again, felt fine. At the airport got talking to a family on our flight, they said the food in their hotel was diabolical and guess which hotel it was, yes the Jamie 1.

This hotel is only let down by its resteraunt, but if I am paying for meals I expect the meals to be edable. I am not a fussy eater by any means, but could not find any thing good to eat, and what I ate made me and my husband ill.

The cleanliness of this hotel was excellent everywhere maids in every day cleaninig and fresh towels.

The pool area was great very good size and plenty of sunbeds, however this hotel is defnitley not catred for the British it gave me an impression of what a Spanish retirement home would be like.

The food was awfull and the dining area was like a cattle Parket if anything we got a laugh at the Spanish pensioners in there costumes doing aerobics at the side of the pool!!

The entertainment was all in Spanish!!

The hotel location was excellent walking distance to portaventura, beach and centre.

After reading reviews about this hotel we were not looking forward to our holiday however we found the hotel very good.

Each room was fitted with brand new door locks patio doors and safes for security. The cleaning and reception staff were very polite and helpful.

The food mainly catered for the Spanish but there was something for everyone.

The rooms and hotel/pools were very clean and tidy especially the underground indoor heated pool, sauna and jacuzzi.

The location of the hotel was perfect for the beach and town centre. We would definitely visit this hotel again.

we have been to this hotel twice and will go again , the hotel is packed with things to do for kids 3 pools, , crazy golf , park with swings, climbing etc.., indoor pool , gym , kids club, excellent kids entertainment

hotel rooms are basic i.e beds shower toilet tv balcony but are kept clean so no problems there

food is served in buffet restaurants and as a buffet suggests there is a variety of food served , a couple of nights there wasn't a great choice for me as i can be fussy but that is the chance you take going half board , if i want pie and chips every night i wouldn't expect it in an international hotel , i would go to blackpool

the entertainment at night was the only negative , every night it was spainish style entertainment and this was disappointing , if there was an attempt to conduct it in several languages it might have worked but we spent most of our nights at port aventura any way

considering how much this hotal costs i don't think people will be disappointed in coming here , you get great value for money , if you want a good standard family holiday hotel i would recommend this

We arrived at the Jamie 1 hotel on 17th October to find that the room we had only had 2 double beds which was on the small side. The room itself was tiny and untidily decorated. I have 1 son of 9 and one daughter of 6 they had to share a bed, we requested another room but that also had 2 double beds.

The balcony was very small and overlooked an untidy back street with rubbish and graffiti.

The food was of a very poor quality which none of us could eat, the bread was stale and the plates and cutlery was very dirty and none of the food was labelled we had no idea of what some things were, and a lot was swimming in grease.

We were told by the rep that we had to pay 8 euros 50 each to sit together on the plane home, which when talking to the the travel agent when we arrived home as we had paid for it that it was false information.

On the 1st morning my son only wanted an apple for breakfast so I asked one of the waitresses and she said it was impossible yet in the evening meal they had lots of fruit in the basket.

We then walked to the supermarket to buy some fruit for our room, the street where our hotel was it was covered in dog mess graffiti and broken paths and walls.

We complained about the room and the food on the 2nd day to our rep.

By the 3rd day we returned from the beach and our son was very hungry so we bought some pot noodles and boiled the kettle only to be refused use of 2 forks as they said it was impossible even when our rep tried to get 2 forks they still refused after 35 minutes they finally let us have them. At this point I told the rep to move me to another hotel or take us home as our children were so upset and had enough. We moved to another hotel after paying over 100 euros on the 4th day.

It took a whole day to transfer to an alternative hotel which was another day wasted leaving us with just 3 days left of our holiday. Which was enjoyed in comfort.

Food was all catered for Spanish and German, hardly any English food. Food was that bad we had to eat at local restaurants. No choice for kids only bread or toast. Had to buy food from spending money when it was a half board holiday. Couldn't afford to take kids out for days due to having to eat out.

Had 6 month old baby on holiday with us, when booking We requested fridge, kettle and cot, got told this hotel had these in their rooms. On arrival this hotel had none of them in their rooms. Had to hire from a private hire company which was more cost out of holiday spending.

This hotel is advertised as having day/evening entertainment, kids club, full English menus with a separate kids menu, this is very the opposite to what they are advertising none of this was there.

Hotel cleanliness is a word I don't think Jaime 1 understands.

Very dull lighting in corridors old and worn decor.

Restaurant is healthier looking than the food it serves up.

Swimming pools are very dirty and need cleaning. The beach and sea are a much cleaner and healthier choice.

I would never recommend this hotel to anyone not even a blind person.

Been back 3 days now and my stomach is just settling.

This was our first holiday abroad, and was not impressed. On the last day I had to get the doctor to my 8 year old son who had got gastroenteritis the worst bit of the holiday was the food people who say the food was good must be used to eating from the tip, it was disgusting and cold plus it was the same all week no variety. How many times can you serve cold rice in one week?

We opted to eat out more than we ate in as we could not stomach the food. the reception staff, there was 2 nice ladies on reception they tried to understand what you was saying and be helpful, but there was one who would just grunt at you as if she could not be bothered. The security guard was an idiot. The room was compact and cleanish the floors were dirty but we did get fresh towels daily.

The pools were dirty and the indoor pool which you had to pay for was cold. Entertainment was in Spanish and rubbish. the kids reps were very good, very friendly, the holiday rep sold us trip which were crap finding Nemo you'd be lucky , trip to Barcelona was o.k. but we did not what to go to the football stadium and we only got 2 hours in Barcelona which we was told at least 4.

We also visited the house of illusion which was a good night, I felt very vulnerable around the hotel, but it was situated close to the beach , but be careful to avoid the dog dirt everywhere. Salou it self was ok

We travelled with some trepidation after reading the reviews from this and other web sites.

My initial impression of our room was good, bathroom clean, two double beds and enough room for the four of us. We would have found it a bit small if the children were older, say over the age of nine. With a five and six year old it was ok. We were in the Miro block which overlooked the pool with pool bar.

The room on a night was very warm with no air conditioning(we took a small fan which clipped onto the headboard and gave some relief) and with the patio doors open there seemed to be noise cooming from the surrounding streets all night. Consequently I did not have a full nights sleep for the whole two weeks. Fortunately this did not seem to affect the kids as they slept well always.

The reps. (Rachael,EJ,little Rachael)were very good, always there when they said they would be and helpful. Kids club was excellent. There was something on every night with a kids disco on from 2100 to 2200. We went out a few times especialy for some decent food. The hotel staff were not very friendly I don't think thank you is in there vocabulary.

The food was the most disapointing part of our holiday. Breakfast was awful everything swimming in grease and undercooked/cold. My wife would have killed for a decent cup of tea (we actually took a travel kettle with us and pinched a couple of cups from the dining room just so we could get a brew). Kids lived on dry coco pops for two weeks.
Evening meals were not much better unless you like pigs trotters. Also no drinks available on an evening so we were paying an extra 7 euros 20 every night for drinks from the bar. For a decent meal out try Linda's, The lazy wave, Guiness Tavern.

I think the hotel could do with a makeover. Although the kids enjoyed it (apart from the food).

We will not be going back to this hotel or Salou as apart from the sea front and main drag it was all a bit gruby .
