I arrived 7am and the staff available at the time (Doran and Ferret - apologies for the spelling!) were excellent greeters and a problem with the room was very quickly dealt with by Kevin - thank you!

The cleanliness of the hotel was excellent and the food whilst basic was good, Breakfast: salad, cheese, meat, olives, eggs and bread (toast and jam) with tea, coffee and fruit juice. Dinner was hit and miss but the soup always a lovely meal in itself.

Location was disappointing as 1km from beach - a long walk in the heat! but there were no problems with noise from bars and good accessibility to shops etc.

Excellent hosting was provided mainly by Tarik, Lockmann was also extremely professional with other guests. All the staff (too many to name) were so courteous & friendly, their English put us to shame!!

My first night we were treated to a dancing display and lesson from Kevin and Doran with all staff joining in with traditional Turkish dancing. The other guests contributed to the entertainment and atmosphere and there was a family feel to the complex.

The hotel pool and sunbeds were always accessible with staff available to bring drinks etc to you. Choice of music and volume not to everyones taste but staff changed it if asked.

Hasan (the rep) was great and provided loads of local info and medical advice and was keen to ensure guests took advantage of the many trips available.

Overall, the rooms and balconies are small but as a base for pool/sun-bathing, sleeping and changing the hotel is friendly, welcoming and centrally located.

Wish had done a better search of reviews before booking this hotel.

on arrival was greeted by friendly staff, that evening when i tried to open the balcony door, the handle fell off in my hand, we notifed staff who attempted to fix it. We assured it would be done the following day. We were then told it would be fixed the next day as being a Sunday the stores were closed- acceptable. The following day it was fixed with black electric tape !! which needles to say fell off as soon as the handle was touched. To keep brief it was never fixed. The staff became indifferent to our requests, as we chose to eat and drink away from the hotel. We were only there a week so stayed out of the hotel as much as possible.

Balcony- this does not exist it is a tiny space that you can only just stand on, no room for a chair, if one was provided, and the possiblity of airing damp towels is useless as the A/C fitment was directly above and dripped.

The A/C was used but dripped excessively onto us as the bed was direclty underneath, we moved the bed but then listened to it drip onto the floor. By the end of the week we needed a decent night sleep.

Our room was small definately not to be graded as 3 star. lacked storage, we kept majority of our clothes in our bags. our room was not swept while we were there, I've never had the need to write a negative review before but be warned. My complaint list could go on. check reviews before you go. One hotel i would definately not return to. Only positive thing i can say is that it is in a decent location.

Other guests also complained while we were there to the resort rep.

Where do i begin?
My daughter arranged this holiday for my Birthday and paid quite a lot of money for half board. On arrival, we were shown to our room which had a double bed so we asked for two singles, we were then taken into another room. After a sleepless night, because of the loud generator at the back of the hotel, we tried to move to another hotel but were told it would cost us

this was our first and last visit to the alara hotel. Some of the staff were arrogant. one member of staff asked my daughter if she had a boyfriend she told him yes and then he asked her how many times had she had sex with him.

our rooms were never cleaned, they were dirty when we first arrived. towels rarely changed. sheets changed once in 10 days even though we asked for clean towels and bedding. when they did give us ONE clean towel it was ripped and had 3 holes in it!!

one morning 2 members of staff were actually physically fighting in front of us.

there was wires hanging from the wall. the air con that we paid extra for hardly worked. the fridge was full of mould and rust. it was so bad i have taken photos to show to the company we booked with. never ever stay here.

I so wish I had managed to find any reviews on the Alara Hotel prior to leaving but hey ho - live and learn !!

Booked "Family Room" which supposedly slept 2-5. On arrival we were shown to what could only be described as a "lean to". 2 beds between 4 of us - staff asked if children could share and were put out when i told them this wouldn't be acceptable. They brought a further single bed in which meant 3 beds for 4 people in a space no bigger than a single room back home. The bathroom was awful - my husband had to go on mosquito killing duties on a regular basis during the day. There was no shower curtain (water all over the floor and very slippery) and no hook to hang the shower up on the tiles (had to use it as a hand held). A full size snooker table was within 2 feet of our door for the hotel guests use. This was nice however, not so nice at 1am, 2am, 3am and so on.

all of the above were mentioned several times per day to the hotel management and staff. At the beginning of the holiday they kept promising to sort things out but towards the end of the holiday, they actually laughed and thought the whole thing hilarious.

Thank god it was only a week and we all have to say, we would never stay there again. I think the main thing that annoyed us is that, yes we didn't pay huge amounts of money for the priviledge of staying here, but it was all we could afford. We generally find the Turkish a very helpful people, but at the Alara this could not be farther from the truth. One member of staff, Tariq, was excellent, the rest were, quite frankly, rude and arrogant. Thank you Tariq.

After reading the reports I was a bit apprehensive, but thought well havent paid alot so lets just see what happens. Well on arrival we were greeted by the staff who took our cases to our room. Ok the rooms are quite small but for sleeping and changing were adequate. Although the fridge did not keep things cold. Ferret the cleaner, kept the rooms clean, provided clean towels most days, but if needed towels or toilet roll we just asked him and he got them for us. The air conditioning is 10TL per night but you could leave it on all day, no need to put fob in hole in the wall. Never had to fight for a sunbed or get up at the crack of dawn to put towel on one. The pool area was always clean and tidy. The staff were always on hand to get you anything you needed, as well as an early dip - much fun was had around the pool with the staff. The breakfast was typical turkish breakfast, tea, coffee, juice also available. The evening meal was limited as only one choice of main meal. The food was good most of the time with the soups being superb. If main dish not to your liking there was always plenty of salad, bread and puddings to eat. The staff, Khadir (Kevin), Lochman, Tariq, Dogan, Fred and Yilmas (barman) were excellent. Jimmy the boss, once loosened up, was excellent company and fun. Although if you want a balcony then this hotel is not for you - although this did not bother us as never in room long enough to worry about it. The view from the hotel roof is amazing as you can see all of Icmeler. The location is excellent and only a couple of minutes from all the night life and 5 mins walk to the beach. The turkish night was good fun, and some nights the guys would do some turkish dancing and the usual fun dances.
Any problems we had were always dealt with and with little fuss, although might take them a while to do it, but then that is the laid back Turkey for you.
For the price I paid for this hotel I thought it was good value for money and would definately go back.
Sometimes I am not sure what some people want for their money.

lara hotel in Ichmeler , room was clean but most of all bedding and towels were changed very often. The food was'nt up to much but then again saying that you are in Turkey, although the soups we had for starters were lovely. The location of the hotel is very central and a few minutes to the town itself. There was no entertainment at all just the same old cd's over and over again. The hotel staff were really very pleasant and especially Tariq, Lockman and the barman who's name I forget. Definately I would go back there to stay.

arrived alara hotel icmeler 1am 2 9 o8 the staff seemed to be helpful but it was the first and last time, they were very unorganised.when opening our room door on the fourth floor the porter? pressed the light switch and nothing happened. this was the beggining of a catalogue of faults with our room over the next ten days.we had to pay extra for our air conditioning and safe, when returning from a day out we had to put our air conditioning on for half an hour before the balcony door would open because the key had expanded in the lock with the heat.the balcony door handle kept falling off, the cuboard knobs as well, the toilet stopped flushing and the shower room wasn,t cleaned at all.breakfast was very basic and the so called evening meal was just slop.
