spent a week at the marcan. It wasnt the best week. I found the breakfast poor, not covered up properly so wasps and flies were attracted. Small cups so coffee and tea was never enough. Hotel staff were not the most friendly, I got the impression sometimes they couldnt be bothered. Watch your bills, as it is very expensive at the bar and the food is expensive, so try and eat in town. The entertainment was nil, night time was mostly centerd around the bar. I wouldnt go back to this hotel. The pool was nice, but it was early may / june so it was nice.

Our family came to this hotel and the staff were amazing, we were a big group but nothing was too much trouble, they even arranged for someone to sit in our room when my 4yr old son went to bed, I obviously spent a lot of time with him as well but all staff management etc made us and left us feeling safe secure and not wanting for anything.

Breakfast were the trad eu stuff, eggs bread etc, meal times were normally set but if you wanted else the staff would accommodate.
We had such a good time at the Marcan that the following year my wife and I booked all inclusive at a hotel in Bodrum but still too a 6hr bus trip to Hisaronu to spend 3 nights at this hotel, this was our honeymoon, thats how much we liked the Marcan.

Clean, tidy, friendly and altogether a brilliant relaxing stay for any British holiday makers.

be VERY careful at the Marcan (pronounced MarJan) with your money.
Fellow Brits had problems with items appearing twice on their bill e.g. air-conditioning billed twice in English and Turkish; items like use of phone or extra things from the bar . . all caused problems especially if you have NOT got a receipt to verify your payments and prove that you are telling the truth.
You MUST get receipts for everything including safe-box and air-con etc.... otherwise you cannot prove that you paid a deposit and need it refunding.
Such problems that others and we experienced could be genuine mistakes of course.

I am surprised that such a low-cost hotel was so thoroughly enjoyable. We could not have found fault if it had cost twice what we paid.

The hotel is not luxury, but, clean, great food and superb location. Within about 100 metres (up/downhill) from main shopping and nightlife area it was far enough away not to be noisy. A great pool with 18hr/7days bar area and food served anytime.

But..... what really made the holiday for us was the staff. From the minute we arrived (05.15 on a sat morning) to find the manager and 2 staff waiting to help us, to the minute we left (having to shake hands with, and say goodbye to everyone of about 10 full-time staff), they really couldn't have done more to make our holiday enjoyable. They weren't creepy, just really good fun and full of smiles.

I can thoroughly recommend this hotel to anyone who doesn't need or want to pay for a 5* hotel.

We can't wait to go back there next year!

Hotel Marcan (pronouced Mar-jan) was a nice clean hotel. HOWEVER, you will be charged extra for air con and TV in your rooms if you need it. Breakfast consists of a Turkish breakfast EVERY morning with the SAME menu EVERY morning (wasps included). A full English breakfast is available at 9TL per person which I wouldn't recommend as restaurants closeby do the same menu for 6TL.
The sign outside says you cannot bring in drinks and crisps though I always managed to sneak drinks in, but I've heard from people that the manager does try to search your bags at times.
The female receptionist was very nice, as were all the bar/pool staff. Cleaners were fantastic and did a brilliant job. However, if you want your room cleaned you will have to drop your key at reception before 12pm otherwise your room won't be cleaned.

As much as the hotel itself wasn't bad, because of everything you get charged for I won't be returning to this Hotel and I do not recommend it at all. My partner and I chose not to pay for the air con, but after a few days we just had to bcos the heat was unbearable and we just couldn't sleep. Oh yeah, the room also come with their very own mosquitoes, so I'd advice you take a can of mosquito spray; spray your room when you're going out and spray your body with repelent before you sleep.

At the start of the holiday I said I would give the hotel 6/10, but by the end of our 9th night, it went done to 4/10.

Before I forget, DONT CHANGE MONEY AT THE HOTEL, NOR IN HISARONU. OLUDENIZ HAS MUCH BETTER RATES!!!!

our hotel room was spacious and keep clean as often as we required maid service, beds a wee bit on the hard side.We did not think that we would use the half board as often as we did as we did not expect the quality of the food to be as high as it was.The Turkish night we experienced was very good and of a high standard with more folk dancing than belly dancing and all done tastefully compared to some we have attended.staff were generally attentive and friendly with only one a bit over the top and a quiet word sorted it.Entertainment was low key but that is how we liked it. only once had to ask staff to lower music and they did so immeadiately.would not recommend a room near the bar breakfast area if like me you are a light sleeper. Will stay again.

Wasnt sure about this hotel from some of the reviews but got a good deal for a last minute deal, reviews did help me be prepared though. Well the hotel was lovely the room was lovely furnished probably for this yr and quite spacious, as was the shower. The balcony was very small but big enough for me to sit out for a cigarette, as not allowed to smoke in room (good thing). The manager was fine, did not hassle us what so ever. We did not have vacate our room early and we got picked up by our perator at 1am. We never got charged but never asked. There is a sign on the notice board for rm charges if keeping them on, so cant see how they change the price anyhow. Rooms are cleaned as often as you ask just leave your key with reception and say you want it cleaning.

There are extra charges for air con and saftey boxes, but i have stayed in Turkey many years and i have always been charged, we didnt need either.

The prices in the hotel are more than in the shops for drinks, chrisps, water etc so we just got ours from the shops and carried them in bags to our room, no problem, we just kept quiet and evryone did it.

Breakfast is very boring, but again that is their breakfasts, same in all hotels. Which is bread, cheese, tomatoes, boiled eggs, jams, cereals, salami etc. Beware the wasps love salami. But this was fine to put us onto lunch time.

We were half board as cheap deal but we ate out every night for the atmosphere. The staff are very friendly.

To pay around the hotel for drinks etc you have an electric swipe card that you use also to put things on your tab, which each time you sign a receipt and have a copy, we actually did not clear ours till the end of holiday, but we kept out receipts and took them with us, so they knew we had kept account, just incase.

A two min walk from the main street but away enough for peace. you can get to either end of main street by going either left or right from hotel, try both or you may miss some lovely bars and restuarants at the quieter end.

The only niggle i had really with the hotel was the pool had no atmosphere, very quiet as hotel had mainly couples.

We actually booked for the Telmessos, but knew beforehand we may be put in the Marcan if it's sister hotel was fully booked. What can I tell you about this hotel? It's very clean. The bar staff are friendly. The resident photographer, Ferat, is fabulous. That's about as positive as it gets...and believe me I tried to find nice things to say. The front counter staff have obviously taken a course from the Basil Fawlty school of hotel management. The main reception is hot and stuffy and could do with some air conditioning. This would be especially helpful for your last day, because, if like us, you are being picked up for your return journey at midnight - you still have to vacate your room by midday, and this is where you will have to sit for twelve hours. Unless they can find a spare room for you (no guarantee) to store your suitcases - at a charge of
