If you don’t mind the noise from the main bar area in the evenings then the rooms close to reception/around the big main pool are ideal as their close to everything, pool, daytime entertainment, restaurant, reception, bar etc
Rooms further back behind the gym are better if you have smaller children and prefer not to be disturbed by the evening noise. The pools further back are quieter and the middle pool has a nice splash play area for younger children.
If you have rooms on the lower level you do hear footsteps of people walking around above you.

Maspalomas is by far the nicest part of Gran Canaria, it is quieter than Playa De Ingles, more central than Peurto Rica, not as expensive as Melonaras, and has the nicest beach. It has Faro 2, which is not the busiest centre and does not have as much choice as those in Playa, but is still adequate. The beach is all sand. There are family, naturist and gay sections to the beach. The later two are in between Maspalomas and Playa De Ingles, and are sign posted at either end. The gay section has the rainbow flag on the bar area. It can be very windy on the beach and become unbearable as your skin is ripped off by the sand!! The sea can get rather choppy, watch the flags. Playa De Ingles definately is the place to go for nightlife, try all the centres as they are all differant. Best entertainment is definately the Jumbo Centre. Its classed as the gay centre, but many families go there. The best thing about Gran Canaria is the weather, mainly hot and sunny all year, although it does get quite cold in winter and can rain so make sure you take appropriate clothing.

Melanoras is a clean resort with shops and a few restaurants plus a casino. There is no nightlife and little for children to do. Thankfully Playa del Ingles is not far away and Puerto Rico.

Maspalomas was very clean but quiet.
The beach was amazing especially the dunes. The sand was too hot to climb the dunes when I was there.
Just watch out for rocks in the water they appear from no where.

We stayed in Sonneland just outside Maspalomas. It was very cut off from the Main town. We had to taxi to get anywhere. Maspalomas itself was beautiful Very clean We were very impressed. Would go back to stay somewhere in Maspalomas.The beach was breathtaking and lots of restaurants and bars.There were lifeguards on the beach which was good to see.

Maspalomas has a great beach, very clean but one warning watch out for the nudist beach .
The dunes are really great, we had a laugh on the camel ride which goes into the sand dunes. Playa del Ingles also has a great beach, but watch out for the ticket touts they are really persistant.
If you can go on the zigzag trip you go up into the centre of the mountains a truly wonderful day. Also go to Puerto de mogan (its nicknamed Little Italy) a very pretty place easy to get by bus.
Also plenty of shopping centres in Playa del Ingles, the Yumbo being the biggest.

Maspalomas is a lovely resort,with loads to do.The nightlife is somewhat quiet,but you can find plenty of bars for an entertaining evening.
There are some lovely shopping malls where you an get almost anything.
The beach in Maspalomas is very clean with a good supply of sunbeds with parasols at a small price.
Overall,i loved Maspalomas,with it's friendly locals,good beach and great restaurants.

The resort of Sonnenland dosen't have much to offer but it didn't spoil our holiday. There was a lovely Italian resturant just down the road where the food was great. There a couple of supermarkets there.
It is mainly residential now but that didn't bother us.

The beach is not suitable for sunbathing as its all stones, but there are plans to make a man made beach here.
there is a beach 15 mins walk along the prom towards Maspalomas.
Try the 19th hole on the seafront which is a friendly bar with lovely staff.
I'm sure if you are longing for a great hotel which is clean, picturesque and relaxing, you wont go wrong to stay here.
I'm sure we will be booking for next year. Have a great holiday.

Gran Canaria is an excellent place to go to and i would definetly go back, people very friendly and weather is amazing!!!

The resort of Sonnenland had nothing. Had to catch bus or taxi into Maspalomas which we did a few times. The ratings I have given are for Sonneland NOT Maspolomas.
Maspalomas was clean and quite exclusive. Not loads there but was some lovely restaurants and bars and a nice beach. Some designer shops as well. Would go back to Maspalomas again.
