Can't say if the pool side rooms are better but we were in room 901 and the road was noisy and a cockerel crowed from sun up till sun down.

We loved everything about Praia da Rocha and cant wait to go again. Plan on going and staying somewhere nice next time!
Sunbeds on beach are @ €5 per day, invest in an umbrella and mat early on.
Restaurants seem to like to rush you through a meal so slow them down and take it easy. Atlantis was lovely and the Italian opposite the Casino Hotel really good.
Would also recommend that if you want a quieter evening go to the marina, its a nice walk and really lovely views from bars and rest's.

The resort is quite commercialised as far as the Algarve standards go There are lots of street stalls trying to entice you. The kids loved it ! We werent so sure. Head for the marina at the top end of the resort near to Portomao. That is a bit more upmarket. The chinese restaurant there was lovely and the bars are a bit more sedate.
Some of the bars in the resort were quite mad but it was Euro 2004 so that may have made them more noisey. We found the Shopping Centre which is about 10-15min walk away from the apartments great as it had a massive supermarket within it plus loads of clothes and beauty shops and its all air conditioned.
It was lovely to go off and pamper ourselves and leave the men watching football with the kids. The beach was lovely but you have to walk down lots of steps to get to it which isnt great if youre 6 mths pregnant or pushing a pram!
The beach is very safe and the life guards do their job well as some people got into trouble in the sea whilst we were there and they looked like something out of Bay Watch! We would probably not stay in this resort again as we prefer things a bit less commercialised but the apartments were so good we may stay there and hire a car for the whole 2 wks.

It wasnt too bad as far as cleanliness goes. Entertainment is great if you like Irish bars. Beaches are excellent. I would not go here again.

WE LOVED IT!!! thinking of bookin another holiday as soon as we get the chance. food and entertainment was fantastic, the portugese are very friendly. Beaches are beautiful (nicest we have seen) overall rating BIG FAT THUMBS UP!!!

I'd heard that Praia da Rocha was a typical, purpose built tourist resort catering purely for the British. In some respects it is but we were astonished at the magnificance of the beaches. People were cleaning them continuously throughout the day and they were peaceful and relaxed. We found the entertainment in the resort exactly what we wanted, with all the Portugese 'workers' being extremely friendly and helpful, with many recommendations for local Portugese restaurants and similar. It is obviously unfair to compare the whole of Portugal to Praia da Rocha but I would certainly return again.

This resort was very clean, there was no rubish in sight even the lawn area`s and the childrens play parks were emaculate. The pool area was very clean and come to that so was the water in the pools, they clean the water every day.
Ihave found the evening entertainment on occasions ok.
The beaches were fantastic, the sand was clean and crystal clear water. There are plenty of bars and tappas bars, and they all love children.
My partner and I have been many times and will continue to return and enjoy the pleasures it holds,and unfolds.

Very nice area, not much entertainment.
Watch out for the timeshare people they take you miles away in a taxi for a bottle of wine it's not worth it it's a waste of a day.

Quite nice resort but very very busy and very commercialised. Have stayed in Alvor before and it was fabulous, much nicer and cleaner, and much nicer hotel.

The resort itself was lovely - we saw plenty of it as we had to "escape" from Prisoner Cell Block (C) as much as we could. Don't let this hotel put you off Portugal.
very clean resort,mostly irish bars,one main street,with plenty of nightlife in summer.plenty of places to eat. even if your not welsh call in taffy's bar for good night.,ask him for falling down fluid(mention norm and mel if you like ha!ha!)monty pythons do a good british meal too,they are down side street opp huge chinese.beach lovely but long way down to it.
