Generally a very clean and tidy resort with no hills to climb, plenty of restaurants on and around the nice marina, plenty of sun beds and space on the large beach areas. Beach shelved quite sharply into the sea, which might be unsuitable for young children.

nice resort but not cheap but very nice beach around the marina is a bit lar di dar but pubs ok but its not a place for singles its more couples

The resort was very clean. Staff at shops and restuarants semed to clean up outside there own area.
Some pubs had entertainment which was good - Piano bar singer very good. Nice to go somewhere you are not acosted in the street to enter a bar. Lots of ice-cream cafes, and a good varity of food ie we tried chinise, indian portugese and italian. Our favourite was away from the busy marina oppisite the Dom Pedro Golf - Columbos.The only part we didn't like was other customers smoking while eating. All bars, restuarants were all very family friendly.
The beach by our hotel was the best one we found, clean and you could tell they were very keen for it to be kept that way as they gave cigarette pots to people who smoked, and lots of bins to put your rubbish in on the walkways back to the resort.

Fab resort. lots of entertainment. try shakespeares by the olympus hotel on a monday night for their elvis show, brilliant entertainment, the food and drink their is excellent value and all home made. highly recommend the steaks and the sunday roasts. The piano bar on the marina is good and the sintra singer is very good. didn't like rui's carvry €14 and it wasn't a very good standard and they not very child friendly. vilamoura steak house was expensive and not good value. golden ming chinese was excellent but expensive. no 7 bar is a rip off. view the sport on the big screen at shakespeares instead at least you are made welcome there and children not a problem as they have coluring stuff and toys for them. good market in quarteira on a wednesday. would definately return to this resort

The beach here is stunning, very wide with plenty of sunbeds to choose from but are a little expensive at 14 euros 30 cents for 2 beds and a brolly, but overall really beautiful with a really nice breeze all the time to keep you cool.
Vilamoura centre is great, very buzzy. This is centered around the marina you have to look at all the posh boats too. There are stacks of restaurants, not too many bars you have to keep yours eyes peeled for those, plenty of shops for retail therapy. Really impressed with the whole place and so clean and the locals are friendly. Would definately return to this resort!

after staying in the resort of vilamoura, our review is that the resort is very clean. there is a wide selection of restaurants around the marina but there is no night life for people looking to stay in bars. in this case i would recomend going to albufeira for the night. it is a 15minute drive in a taxi and costs between 13-16euros. this resort has a wide selection of bars which are all open until 4:00am, and good variety of shops.averall vilamoura is a very nice quiet place to stay in and would reccomend to anyone looking for a relaxing holiday.

Vilamoura is lovely albeit over priced in respect to food and drink especially on the marina. Try Shakespeares for excellent home cooked food and steaks-they also have a great elvis tribute on a monday night. Also the gateway to india, and Chiccos was ok. Avoid the old navy bar, no 7 bar where the food was overpriced rubbish. Entertainment rui's have a good little band then kareoke also the irish cabin bar has a great group-but the drinks are VERY expensive in both.

The resort was very clean and tidy, a fare bit to do after the course so we were really happy. Golfers take note - shakespeares under the hotel does hot baguettes to take away which we ordered the night before and collected just before we left, they were terrific and like everything else there, they were freshly cooked and great value.
Romarina is ok for coffee, but found there cakes and stuff a bit dry. Loved the golden ming for chinese, pricey but excellent. Steakhouse was worse than a morning after take away, and service was bad. 19th hole was a laugh but expensive on drinks. Enjoyed rui's bar, but again a rip off for drinks. Caspers is alright, small but friendly.
One of the boys had a hsaircut at eu savage by ruis, we are still taking the p*** lesson being get your hair cut before you come!
Golf was great fabulous brilliant cant recommend it enough. Our first time in the algarve, usually go to spain, but think we'll return next march.
Watch out for the miaws! You know the men have been in cats bar then...if you've been there you'll know what i mean!

Vilamoura is a very upmarket resort so don't expect cheap. Pick up the Freemap it is great with lots of information about places to eat. Buses run regularly to albifera but you have to change at the bus station when you get there and get on a city bus for 1Euro which takes you in a loop to the old town and the strip.
We had some very nice meals in the evenings, and would only warn that they give very large servings so don't order too much or miss out on your starter and save space for the desert! They also charge about 1.50E or 2E covercharge each in most resturants it appears on the bill as Bread and Butter or canapes, so you might as well eat them when they are put on your tables.
