Can't say if the pool side rooms are better but we were in room 901 and the road was noisy and a cockerel crowed from sun up till sun down.

a lovely family resort, lively if you want it to be with a good mixture of bars, cafes and restaurants the best being "sitting bull" which serves great tex mex food at massive portion sizes. the resort has the best beach i have ever seen. we went to the beach every day apart from 1 day which we spent at a water park. the sea was fab, clean, safe and plenty of fun to be had on banana boats & wind surfing etc. and great waves which my children loved.

i would definitely go back to this resort

Beautiful beaches, with toilets and ice-cream!! Perfection! So clean. A fair amount of stairs to climb down and back up again, but keeps you fit!!

The Ice Bar is a good place to have breakfast. Full english costs about 5 euro.

Lorraine and Christine make you feel welcome and we had good nights watching the world cup on the big screen. Stay away from the chip shop its dear and rubbish, and I must stress to anyone going to this resort to keep clear of the gypsies on the streets trying to sell you cheap cigs and tobacco. They rip you off for your money and in exchange you get a packet not a sleeve stuck to the top of a card board box filled with sand or cardboard.

Other than this its a good place to holiday beaches oustanding. The new promenade is being built and its lovely to walk along with bars and cafes along the beach front. Food is good in the restaraunts you can pay as little as 4euro 90cents for a pork chop dinner or as much as 14euros for fillet steak. If you would like to have a romantic cadle lit dinner get a taxi to the restsraunt "Stone Steak "just outside of town. Iits well worth the money.

Zoo marine is excellent for kids and the water park keeps them well happy.

Hope you enjoy your holidays as much as we did.

The best thing about the beaches in Praia da Rocha is there are clean public toilets everywhere at beach level (you don't have to kepp trudging up the steps to the town to use the toilet). Beachside cafe's and showers really make a whole day on the beach possible. Very clean, and lots of rocks and alcoves for children to explore. The very welcome cry of the doughnut seller (freshly baked I might add!) is the only thing that will disturb you from your sun-bathing. The fantastic bubbly and friendly atmosphere continues into the town where there are shops and bars and cafe's aplenty.
A trip in the evening is a great way to see local artists at work and also an opportunity to purchase their work if your suitcase is big enough!
Very clean, plenty to do and family friendly. Only downsides would be the stray dogs wandering around and the steps to the beach which were no problem for our six year old but I can imagine anyone with restricted mobility may struggle.

The beach was beautiful, but getting down to it with a pushchair was a nightmare (actually it was getting back up that was the problem). At the moment they seem to be refurbing the bars on the beach so there are no facilities on the beach at all, you have to climb back up to the resort if you want anything. We were also told there was a ramp down to the beach near the Jupiter hotel, but that is being rebuilt too. Just bad timing I guess!

Loads of restaurants, the Italian on the beach side of the street with all the plants was very good (superb garlic bread), Dukes was good for breakfast, the film themed restuarant down near Hotel Jupiter was brilliant (try the honey ribs) and the restaurant up the hill from Vila Rosa was great, really nice owners & equally nice food.

We probably wouldn't go to Rocha again but only because we preferred the quieter Alvor along the coast. Really quaint village with loads of nice restaurants which seemed to be cheaper than Rocha.

Praia Da Rocha is nice, but the evening entertainment there was limited as all there is is Irish bars! Found about two English bars whilst we were there and must have picked a bad night to visit because they had no entertainment on!

One or two Irish bars we could deal with, but found that everywhere was Irish singers telling the same jokes and singing the same songs!

If we were to visit the Algarve again, we would go to another resort.

resort was well located, everything within walking distance. lots of irish pubs - local beer (super bock) €2.50 to €3. nice beer. beach was fantstic, resort was great.
food was great - make sure to visit the Atlantis Restaurant (Highly Recommended).Fillet of Steak €12.50. Also the Titantic and Squash restaurants the same but the first named one has to be visited. Visit the Sardine Restaurants in Portimao. Food is cheap and excellent quality. Excellent for Fish Lovers. 10 mins in Taxi from Hotel.€4
negatives - people trying to sell smokes, etc on the streets. very persistent juat keep saying no and walk on.rooms in hotel could do with slight make over but fine. clean and basic.

The beach is a must, it is the best in the algarve. again the entertainment is poor a certain times of the year. The resort ha two pools and a little one for very young children they are cleaned every night and always open from 8-9 am, you donot need o rush for sunbeds they always have enough. I looked for safty for the children and this is very secure.you do here some dogs barking at night but on the whole it is not a problem.

Praia da Rocha is the oldest resort on the Algarve and it does show. The beach is gorgeous but could do with a bit of a face lift. There is lots going on by way of shops, bars and restaurants but you realy do have to shop around for something special.

The resort of Alvor (about 10 minutes away by taxis) is prettier with nice restaurants and not so big. Alos the beach at Alvor is lovely and very clean.
