Room 2333 in Catalina buiding is quiet and looks over beach, you have to look through the trees but you can see and hear the sea. Pool rooms are horrendously noisy. Quiet pool rooms are away from main building over the car park.

The Playa Dorada resort is spotless, I can't truthfully comment on the entertainment outside the hotel at night because we never ventured out (the kids loved the hotel too much to drag them away). But its quiet safe to go to the plaza where you will find bars and resturants.
We did go shopping there in the day its like a big shopping centre cheaper than the sellers on the beach.
There are some great trips to go on from the Puerto Plata area, we did the dolphin swim which was great, the out back safari ending up at the waterfalls great experience but I wouldnt recomend the falls for really young children nor weak swimmers but dont let this put you off this trip theres so much more to see and you can wait at the bottom and have a swim in the natural lagoon.
We also went quadding another great day out for adults and children the guides will take you or the kids on the back of them if you dont feel confident riding them 20$ for 3 hours worth every penny.
Some of our group did the horse riding and rearly enjoyed that aswell.
The beach is lovely with a welcoming breeze the sea being the atlantic on this side of the island can get a bit rough on some days but not to the extent where it not safe to swim and its just like getting into a warm bath.
Book all your trips down here from Raymond lovely man and you wont get better value probably almost half of what the reps ask and kids can go free on certain trips except the dolphin swim this is about the same price everywhere. All our trips were booked with Raymond and come highly recomended.
I've just got to add one more thing to this review and that is I don't think you will find more friendly people anywhere every body always seems to have a permanant smile. Great holiday I cant wait to go back.

The hotel is directly on the beach and is very clean. We were hoping for the carribean beaches but it isn't like that. However, the sea is lovely and warm... don't forget to take a snorkle and mask to see the beautiful tropical fish.

Resort was very well maintained and kept looking nice. We arrived a week after the hurricane had passed the island but you couldn`t really tell that there had been much damaged. The locals had said that they had many tree`s fallen but they were quickly removed.
The beach was fantastic. Just watch out for the coral as it is sharp and several people in our hotel had cut ankles and legs. Best to wait for the tide to go out a bit and wear those jelly shoes.

Beach was very clean.

I didn't really venture into the resort, as the hotel complex was all inclusive, i did go to the neighbouring Jack Tar Village to the casino and also to the plaza where you could purchase gifts cheap designers t-shirts and cigarettes or the local rums for a good price. The beach was lovely, and the beach vendors would leave you alone with a polite "no thank you"

The resort I found was good too, they have shopping mall, trips and good restaurants and if you travel further good casino's and nightlife.
With only being young we headed out for the bars and clubs. Your rep does ask you to stay near, but if you stay close with who ever you arrived with and don't be too silly in flashing your money and valuebles about, why can't you have a good time.

The resort was excellent. Plenty to do with watersports on your doorstep. Excursions can be booked from the beach. Very friendly people, if you want to be left alone, they don't need telling twice. Plenty to do with beach games, swimming, snorkelling, canoeing......, I could go on, but you get the idea. Would definately return.

The resort i stayed in was excellent.It was always clean and all the people were friendly.The resort entertaniment was really good .The beach standards were really good .The staff down the beach always made you happy and they always came over and spoke to you.I would come back to the resort .Me and my family are coming back next year to this resort .

The resort was fine, there is a big Plaza where you can buy any essentials such as suncream, shampoos etc as well as souvenirs. The souvenir shops are all the same though and the sellers can be quite pushy, but I guess you get that everywhere.
The beach was clean and there is a variety of activities to do if you want to.
