Room 2333 in Catalina buiding is quiet and looks over beach, you have to look through the trees but you can see and hear the sea. Pool rooms are horrendously noisy. Quiet pool rooms are away from main building over the car park.

From our hotel the 'Plaza' was a 10 minute walk away. This comprised of about 10 shops and 2 bars. There was nothing else available on the Playa Dorada site. Hemmingways bar was a bit pricey.
The beach area was very nice, and about a mile long end to end. All the usual beach facilities were available, but you could not use any othere Hotel bar on the beach due to them all being all inclusive.
There were licensed beach sellers who were not intrusive.

The resort was quite clean but again for every bit that was clean there was somewhere very dirty.
The resort entertainment was dreadful.
The beach was about the best thing about the holiday it was clean and yes you could get sunbeds.
To be quite truthful i would not visit this country again even if i was paid to go.
I spoke to people who liked it and again the people that wanted to get the next flight home, go and make your own minds up, but just be careful with the hygene?

The resort was very clean and tidy and well looked after but the down side was it was very expensive if you have to buy anything.
The beach was excellent and there was good facilities ie toilets, bars, shade, sunbeds and non-motorised watersports.

The resort of Playa Dorada was beautiful. It was very clean with an excellent shopping centre, the plaza. With resturants and nice shops - a godsend after eating in the same restuarant everynight!
The golf course was lovely.

The resort was very clean. The entertainment was great and was lots to do during the day and night.
Beach was beautiful clean and there was free activities as well I will definatly be returning.

Don't come to this resort with the pre-conception that the sand is white and the water is warm, this is not the case, remember this side of the island has the atlantic ocean hitting its shores. If you want white sand go to Bavario, the beach is similar to that of any Spanish Costa. The beach was clean and when it rained people were out tidying up all the debris.
Being young we visited the local bar Hemmingways and had such a good time.
We went to Ocean World and the outback safari, both were fantastic and will leave great memories.
Caberete beach was fantastic for surfing boogie boarding ...

Again as above, the beach again is a must, better than the hotel although that was good too. It is so hard to describe you have to be there to appreciate it!
Only thing the beach wasnt as nice as further down the bay although DO NOT walk to the left!

They keep the resort very clean but the beach is not very clean, full of as grass and black debris floating up on shore.
As for resort entertainment we got round to trying any.

You will usually see some people cleaning or sweeping, or pruning some trees. The area around the hotels has stayed traditional,its nice to see not too british.
You cannot fault the effort that is made for the evening shows. Always daytime activity, but we stayed by the adult pool because it was quieter, so we didnt see much activity.
Beach was quite nice, lots of leaves by shore in some places.
If you venture to the right there is a clear stretch, just to see, before the local area. Beach sellers are fine they dont hassle you, as soon as you "looky looky " they will try and sell you something. Listen to their comments when they walk up and down the beach.

The Playa Dorada resort is very impressive with 14 hotels, golf course, casinos and much more. We went on 3 trips while in the Dominican.
The first was the Dominican discovery, it was excellent, jeep safari through the countryside, you are taken to see the local school which is very poor so take pens, pencils and sweets for the kids but it does feel quite cheeky as we must seem like millionaires to them. Then you are taken horse riding where Jurasic Park was filmed, lunch in the mountains, visit to a secluded beach which was like the bounty advert and snorkelling. A must!
The second trip was white water rafting, this was unbeliveable, we had to be up at 6am to get the coach, which took 3 hours, but don't let that put you off! On arrival you get a lovely breakfast in the mountains, then you are kitted out in wetsuit helmet and paddle. The river is pituresque! in a beautiful vally with waterfalls it is gorgeous, an unforgettable day out!
The last trip we went on was the beach. You take a coach for 2 hours then a speed boat out into the middle of the sea for 30mins to a desert island in the middle of the ocean, it is only 350m all the way around, there is nothing on it other than 2 huts, one for drinks and snacks and the other for snorkelling equiptment. The snorkelling is unbelievable, i was a little scared but am so glad i did it, the fish are amazing and an instructer takes you to the best spots, the sea is so clear and turquiose and the sand is pure white, totally amazing!
