Room 2333 in Catalina buiding is quiet and looks over beach, you have to look through the trees but you can see and hear the sea. Pool rooms are horrendously noisy. Quiet pool rooms are away from main building over the car park.

Resort was clean with easy walking distance to the shopping centre. As our hotel wasnt on the beach transport was provided for the 5 minute journey.

Resort very good, purpose built, but so large you do not feel enclosed. Lovely golf course all round. Beach clean, tractors on beach cleaning. Watersports on beach included.

Fabulous beaches cleaned every morning. Loads of water activities. The trips are really good, but you need to shop around. The holiday reps will tell you not to buy from the guys on the beach front but to be honest we had no problems and paid a lot less.

Playa Dorado is a great place to visit all of the hotels in the area seem really good, we managed to wander into a few and have a drink and look around.
I would recommend the Gran Ventana more than the others for the security, whilst its nice to wander into other hotels in the resort its nice to know that its not happening in yours!
Casino in the Paradise Hotel is good, despite the room itself in need of an up date.
Shopping mall is useful, good place to buy cigarettes and gifts. Nice to get a henna tattoo (safe ink) or get your nails done!

The whole complex of Playa Dorada was very nicely laid out , very safe but very expensive in the shopping area.Once you left the multi complex its a complete culture shock, at the poverty and the way people live in total squalor.We went on some super trips to the waterfalls, paradise island and the outback safari.
We had a nice holiday but feel it is not somewhere we wish to return to againn, although many return year after year.

The entertainment could have been a bit better but still enjoyed all the shows.
The entertainment staff worked really hard and were really friendly and helpful as were all the staff.
My youngest child even enjoyed the kids club ,I would definitely go back again. Planning on next year. Best holiday we have ever had.

The resort itself was lovely and the beach facilities were great there was plenty of things to do and activitys for the children.

Playa Dorado is a horse shoe stretch of hotels, a bit on the plasticy side with a small shopping plaza and a few restaurants and bars. The beach is nothing spectacular and the sea was quite rough even though the water was warm.
Puerto Plata was a more lively and real place to visit. The Dominicans make you feel welome.

This resort is fine if you like quiet and low key the plaza is expensive but ok for odds and so forth it is clean and qite friendly but the standard is third world so expect this.
