Room 2333 in Catalina buiding is quiet and looks over beach, you have to look through the trees but you can see and hear the sea. Pool rooms are horrendously noisy. Quiet pool rooms are away from main building over the car park.

The resort/complex was spotlessly clean and on arrival to the resort it has gated security. Therefore very safe and obviously monitors who is allowed on the complex.
There was an average sized shopping complex and lots of shops selling excursions for entertainment.
Beach was lovely and the jet ski's were not badly priced and in nice condition.
Most definitely will return to Playa Dorado.

clean and constantly painting and polishing, entertainment could be better but i don't go away for that, beach is great and peoplr are lovely

This resort was well worth the money and I would say to anyone who is going dont worry, try it. It was great for Christmas and New Year, they went out of their way to make sure you had a great time, they had a massive fire works display on New Years Eve and free champagne.
Entertainment is good, they are great with kids, there is always something going on, they work extremely hard and seem to be there all day, changing costumes, there is also a night club which is also in the all inclusive and pizza etc until 2 am.
The beach was lovely and you could walk all the way round the beach passing all the different hotels in the resort.

playa dorada, we stayed in a beach front hotel , nice shops with friendly staff all around resort , beach was gorgeous.

playa dorada is much bigger than you think. the plaza is fine for basics, but be warned use pesos only here. take usd/tc's for trips. take spendos in pesos.i felt very safe wherever we went. the paths a bit of a nightmare. cant speak for resort entertainment as we didnt visit any.
we did 5 trips all booked with isaira tours, based down the road opp costa dorada hotel, they pick you up and take you to their office. we did a trip into puerto plata, to rum factory,amber and larimar museum, san felipe fortess and to a school to give supplies. the town is a real eye opener and it i got very upset uover the children, these people have very little, but it was nothing compared to where we wnt next. we wnet into montellano and then onto the haitian area. these people really are poor. its rows of tin houses,some of the kids ahev no shoes or pants, it broke my heart to see a 2 yr old holding his hand out.
we also went horse riding- fantastic. my hubby did a days fishing, we did the dolphin encounter- amazing. and went on monster truck safari- if you dont want to get wet sit on the left side of the truck!!! the buffet is terrible so if your picky take your own food.
the countryside as beautiful- please dont stay in your hotel, you dont know what your missing!!

Resort was clean with plently of places to drink/eat if the all inclusive gets abit boring esp Pizza Hut.
Beach was nice and clean only problem is the beach sellers.

The resort was kept very clean there was always some one sweeping up and someone going around the pool area collecting glasses.
The entertainment during the day was great, very funny. we saw one show at night time and it was very good.
The beach was lovely the only down side was being harrassed by people trying to sell stuff.

the only saving grace is the plaza where pizza hut is and hemingways a bar/restaurant and lots of various shops but everything is very expensive, sea is very rough with no visiabilty due to the amount of sand particles being washed away they pump the sand back onto the beach as they slowly recede other people on the coach back to the the airport said they had enjoyed there stay obviously at different hotels around the resort.
