Room 2333 in Catalina buiding is quiet and looks over beach, you have to look through the trees but you can see and hear the sea. Pool rooms are horrendously noisy. Quiet pool rooms are away from main building over the car park.

We were warned by the travel agents that parts of the beach were closed for improvement works, what wasn't made clear was the fact that the entire beach was closed and holiday makers were being transported like cattle in open back jeeps to neighbouring resorts. The hotels beach snack bar had actually been bulldozed!

Not much to say on the resort of Bavaro as we stayed on our hotel complex. Small manmade resort with local "zoo". Manity Park which had a free bus from most hotels. Best thing about the resort is the beautiful beach. Each hotel having its own private section under palm trees. Beach cleaned every day with a litter picker coming around 3/4 times a day taking empty glasses. Snorkelling was a slight disappointment as nothing could be seen from just off the beach. Had to pay for a speedboat trip to go futher out. approx $25 for 1 1/2 hours. Give the driver a tip and he make take you out to see the sharks and manatees as well.

Very clean all the pools were constantly cleaned and all around the resort was being constantly cleaned. A lot of vendors on the beach but quite harmless and great fun to talk to if you say no they leave you alone,but they are quite friendly.

I have rated the resort entertainment as a 1 because we never used it and stayed within the hotel complex at night.
Other who did go out always arrived back having enjoyed their night out.
The beach is more golden than sandy but is clean and well maintained.There is coral in the sea on the stretch for the fun royale so watch your legs! Having said that it is lovely to get a snorkel mask on and watch the fish that live in and around the coral.Always lots of sunbeds to use so no worries about getting there early.
I am booked to go back next year to this resort.

We only left the hotel to go horse-riding, to Ocean World and to the Plaza.
200 cigarettes are 800 pesos at the hotel and 500 at the Plaza so worth the trip. Had cinema and restaurants there too but we didn't use them.
Beach had all-inclusive bar there with food and sunbeds. Apparently the watersports are free every day except sunday but we only went once as we got bitten to much.

Lots of trips to do, lots of hassle from sellers when you try to shop. Fantastic weather.

Playa Dorada is the best resort for tourists with something for everyone. You have the plaza shopping centre where you can buy all those pressiesor a reat for yourself, helicoptor rides, golf course and horse ides round the resort. the beach is like a pictur postcard clear blue water and whit sand each hotel has its own part of the beah where the al inclusive fun continues there is even shops on the beach where you can practice you haggling with the locals
