Room 2333 in Catalina buiding is quiet and looks over beach, you have to look through the trees but you can see and hear the sea. Pool rooms are horrendously noisy. Quiet pool rooms are away from main building over the car park.

Playa Dorada is listed in Puerto Plata... the resort offered a beautiful, clean beach, a small shopping Plaza with gift shops and some home comforts, and even a Pizza Hut!

The beach was amazing and so were the views. There were very few sun loungers on the beach and usually we would leave beach towels on the lounger as we went to get drinks and lunch etc, but we were told by many that they had their towels stolen from the beach. Then they had to pay a charge of $20 per towel if they borrowed them from the hotel and they got lost or stolen.

Sales people came on the beach too. Literally every five minutes they would come and sell you beads, statues or t-shirts and wouldn't take no for an answer. They would become rude and pushy for things you have not shown any interest in. We pretended to be asleep in the end but when we did this they would kick your sun lounger hard to make you jump.

The resort of Playa dorada is great as it is made up of a variety of all inclusive hotels within a complex so it it very safe for you to go out shopping during the day or to the small selection of bars and restuarants within the complex during the evening.

The beach is stunning and you can take long walks down the beach along the shoreline past the fronts of all the hotels in the resort.

If there is a big sporting event on head to hemmingways bar where you can watch it on the big screen.

There are a few other bars on the complex too if you fancy a change from your hotel.

We never really left the complex to check out the resort as Alycia was too interested in playing with her friends (plus it gave us time to relax).
ON the occasions we did visit the plaza I can say that it was very clean and the people are friendly.

One word of advice though - make sure you pay for anything in Pesos. If you offer to pay in Dollars they'll try to get more from you.

The beach was lovely. The 'looky looky' men would be in full force but a politie 'No Thankyou' used to surffice and they'd leave you alone for the rest of the time.

Lovely clean resort. Not the paradise i was expecting but this is a poor island. The trips were really enjoyable especially the Outback Safari, the guides were really friendly, knowledgable and informative.
Plenty of entertainmet around the resort and beach. Quite a few locals selling their wares on the beach but not aggressive or intrusive.
Overall, lovely holiday but would not return.

An excellent resort,people very friendly.

Beach was always clean however the beach traders were annoying but if you told them to leave you alone they did.

The report was very good. It is a third world country, so it was quite difficult to grasp how they really do live. However, it was very clean and the locals prided themselves in looking after what little they did have. On the complex itself, it was stunning, very beautiful and clean. The hotel was close to several casinos bars and discos, and also the shopping plaza. The airport was a short drive away. We did do a few trips, and these were booked on the beach and not with our reps. We didn’t have any problems what so ever. The catamaran was very rocky, but the crew were fantastic very entertaining, we booked the fun catamaran with the slide on, despite the weather and a lot of nausea!!! We had a great day out. Finally we visited Paradise Island. This was a great day out, it really was like paradise. All in all we had a fantastic holiday, we would definitely book it again.

The hotel is right on the beach which is excellent!

Snorkling is good however you do have to walk a little to the left only about 5-10mins to a reef on the corner to get a good view of the fish.

There is an organised boat trip to sosua which is excellent worth the money and good food on the boat. The snorkling is excellent in sosua

The resort was nice, there was a little shopping centre within walking distance from the hotel and a cinema. We went out at night to the nightclubs which were ok, drinks really cheap but it's a bit scary walking home.

the resort of playa dorado was nice, the beach wasnt like the tropical beach i had imagined it to be,the beach was quite dirty(the fun tropicale end),but after we were moved the beach was cleaner and had more shade and ammenities,
the beach sellers are friendly but they get on your nerves after a week as they are all the same people, and the ones you buy off of they dont leave you alone, but there so poor you feel like you have to oblige
