The resort was very clean, the beach was very nice, I would visit the resort again.

I was rather disappointed in the entertainment, as the football was on most evening.

The people outside the resturants made walking up and down a nightmare as they hasstled you every time you past and some would not take no for an answer.

Golden Sands is what the mediteranean was like 20 years ago. It is full of life without losing its charm. The bulgarians are among the friendliest people on the planet and bend over backwards to help you enjoy your stay.

There are 2 strips - the seafront and Bonkers strip. Bonkers strip is for the young with nightclubs. It has not been spoilt by the English louts yet and is full of european/russian and bulgarian youths behaving themselves.

Our favourite wad the seafront which stretches for what seems like miles and has bars and eateries for every taste.
The retaurant Dolphin on the beach has fantastic bulgarian folk nights and is worth a look (they spit roast whole pigs and chickens on watermill fed spits on the street during the late afternoon for eating at night - a Kodak moment if ever I have seen one).
As the night gets later the music gets louder with too much boom boom disco music for our liking but - there are plenty of quieter bars to find if you want to get away from it.

We never saw a single english entertainer (all bulgarian) or english backpackers tempting you into bars (again, all bulgarian. we actually felt like we were abroad for a change.

Most hotels have a sky bar (set on the roof of the hotel with fantastic views and peacefull settings). They are all open to everyone and it is worth doing a sky bar pub crawl. The best by far being on the Grand Marina Hotel.

If you are looking for a peacefull holiday forget it.
If you are looking for a holiday with loads of quality traditinal restaurants and bars (of all types) then this is brilliant.

VIVA BULGARIA!!!!!!!!!!!1

Golden Sands is a very livley, entertaining & interesting place to visit.
The resort has everything you need for a family, singles or just a quiete holiday.
The Bulgarian people are excellent hosts & make every effort to converse in a variety of languages of which English is widely spoken.
Traveling around the resort is very easy by way of walking, cycling (although hilly),taxi's & even a road train which nearly covers all the hotels locations & is an excellent way of veiwing Golden Sands very very cheaply.
There is entertainment of a wide variety from street shows, Hotel entertainers (no restriction to non guests) pub & bar live shows, resteraunts in vast quantities from Indian, Chinese, Bulgarian, Irish & English pubs. There are fairground rides/shows (very cheaply priced), a massive selection of swimming pools at various locations around the resort all of which only charge for sunbeds per day at very reasonable rates (appx £1 per day).
The beach although shelly on the sea edge is excellently kept with plenty of space for all types of beach lover whatever your preference. Watersports is very popular at Golden Sands beach with every safety aspect covered. There are plenty of beach bars, snack bars,toilet/shower facilities spanning the whole length of the beach!
The aquapark is also a must for the water lovers as this venue is kept in superb condition with a life guard at every ride and pool.
The night life in the resort is absolutly excellent ! from disco's, casino's, hotel bars, restaraunts with entertainment, a 10 pin bowling alley aswell as the street shows.
To enjoy a good holiday at Golden Sands is very easy if you follow simple guidelines & take valuable advice from holiday reps and resident local people.

The main beach front was kept very clean, although it did look as if it had only been refurbished the last couple of years.

The beach could have been cleaner, alot of fag ends and little in the sand. NOT as clean as Sunny beach.

Golden Sands - Cheap to eat and drink - and many places with their own entertainment in the evenings - so much that we tended to pick a place to eat based upon what the entertainment was like.
Beach was good, although worked out quite expensive to hire sunbeds, with matress + umbrella every day.....well it woudl have if we had sun every day. Unfortunately for the first 2 weeks of June 2004, the weather was not as good as it could have been - too much overcast and raining for my liking - BUT we would go back probably in July or August.

Plenty to do in the resort for adults and children alike.
Lots of restaurants and bars selling very reasonably priced food and drink, although they often harassed the holiday makers for their custom.
The beaches were very clean and ideal for children as the sea was quite shallow and warm.
A good idea to carry plenty of change as there was a charge to use the toilets even in restaurants and bars

We went to this resort to chill out and that is precisely what we did. It is very quiet or was when we were there with wonderfull walks.Balchik is the nearest life, a typical small Bulgarian Town. Just a few tavernas along the front.I recomend a walk to the top of the town. We went to Albena and Golden Sands both very commercialised.Didn't stop long at both. Went to Golden Sands 30yrs ago.Didn't recognise a thing changed so much.
