Near the Andorra are a group of bars. Check out The Soul Bar. Also The Restaurant Margarita -really good food. Great music especially by Mikey Mike who works in both places.

All rooms are good in this quite hotel with most having sea views
Avoid booking a studio without stipulating 'NOT FACING THE WALL' as we were allocated a room looking directly at a high wall 12' from our balcony even although we had requested a sea or pool view. Check directly with the hotel well in advance.

Not keen on the black sand, but hey its Tenerife & its volcanic area, overall the resort was fairly quiet in May but we did enjoy the area, walking from Fanabe to Las Americas at least twice a day & it was spotless & clean

Mar Ola 1 is situated about 15 minutes walking from the strip.
Ideal if you want a quiet holiday and not too far to the night life.

Resort was great we ended up in the same restuarant for the rest of the holiday la boca english resturant good variety and value for money. Lots of great bars didnt even need to go starcos or veronicas everynight. Found a great cocktail bar next to the hotel with karaoke started the night off there and went off to the brewers droop where is it was karaoke everynight and great entertainment. cant wait to go back

Having been 10 years since we last visited las americas, this time with our 6year old daughter, we were very pleasantly surprised at how much nicer it is. Fantastic upmarket bars and restraunts, great family bars, although the resort was fairly quiet at this time of year, it was great because there was a bit of a price war going on !
To be honest, we could have easy done an extra week on top of the two we spent there as there was so much choice of excursions and things to do. All in all, a great family resort, we would love to return to in the future.

This area of Playa de Las Americas is clean with good shopping and excellent beach standards. Noise is kept to a minimum as the raucous nightclubs are situated further away - this is definately the place to find a nice restaurant and relax!!

Some lovely restaurants to try, quite a quiet area, away from the noisy bars.

The resort area itself is fine, although anyone with a back problem may get problems going up the steep roads back from the beach, and the new pavements on the steep roads are slippery!

There was extensive pedestrianisation work ongoing between hotel location and central Playa De Las Americas. Not a big deal, but doesn't look great. Think they will have this completed by end of summer 07.
Lots of touts, some won't take "no thanks" for an answer ... so just walk on by.
Couple of recommendations ...
- Monkey Beach Club - situated on the beach, not cheap but nice and modern, and great cocktails
- Jumpin Jacks - lively night out, great music, good value drinking
- Cafe Bar Colon 2 - excellent small venue, brilliant coffees and juices at any time of the day

It is extremly cheap to eat great food in Torviscus, so we ate out every day.
Breakfast about £2 and evening meals from £4. Some great restaurants in the harbour, Chateaux Briand about £14 for 2 people, Sea Bass about £7, and if you like typical Canarian food go to the Chicken Shack it is on the Fanabe Promenade near to Los Olivos/ Lagos de Fanabe.
There are some great pubs in the area, we liked the Beehive just below the Santa Maria (say hello to Andy, Mick and Angelo for us) a Pint of Jack Daniels and coke £5.
There is plenty of entertainment available in the area, Tribute bands / Artists, and with cheap booze you can't go wrong.
The beach at the harbour is very good be be careful at the right hand side of the beasch as there are some rocks under the water at high tide which can be tricky, use the left side where the Iceberg is it is safer.

Playa Las Americas is best-suited for those on 18-30s holidays - everyone is on the pull and therefore you cant just have a relaxed night out without getting chatted up every ten minutes!
