Block H. Big gap under main door .

Bdroom door was twisted and did not shut. D frame round bathroom door was falling off. The fridge smelt bad like fish were living in it. Never ate from any of the bars and only made sandwiches in room.

Location too far away from main streets. Staff were rude you ask them something and they just look at you.

We went to the Portabello in Marmaris on a Late Deal with Thomson on an Allocation on Arrival basis.

For what we paid we really didn't expect anything better than a small room in a backstreet apartment without a swimming pool. So when we arrived at the Portabello at 2am we couldn't believe our luck. The staff immediately ran out to the coach to take our suitcases, and also carried them to our room.

The room itself was only basic and fair enough I could have plastered the walls better myself with my eyes shut-and I'm not a plasterer! It was clean though and at the end of the day how long do you stay in your room anyway? The facilities at the Portabello were amazing; it was like a mini village, there

On arriving at the Portobello in the early hours, my first impression of the reception was 'wow, this is fantastic'. I'd read the reviews on this site and was a bit sceptical, but some friends who we were holidaying with had been two years before and said it was really nice. That's where the 'wow' factor stopped. There was one man on reception who spoke very little English, with a coach full of people trying to check in with the use of two pens. A minor glitch, I thought. We were finally taken to our apartment in E block. I thought that the Portobello was supposed to be a three star plus complex. They obviously did not take a look at E block when they made the rating. There was no lift, so we had to carry our cases up to the top floor. When we got there I couldn't believe what I was looking at. The front door did not lock properly, the shower was mouldy, the kithen draws did not fit the units and the balcony door didn't even have a lock. When you opened and closed any of the doors, plaster fell out as the gaps were so big you could fit your hand through the wall and door frames. As everyone was tired and had just carried 12 cases up there, we decided to sleep on it and decide what to do in the morning. Unforunately, I was talked into staying as there were four sets of families and it decided that we would make the best of it and all stay together rather than be split into different areas. After the first day we had a power cut at around 3pm. When the electricity goes off, so does the water as it is electrically pumped. The first time it happened, no-one really minded, but it became a daily and nightly occurance with one power cut lasting for about 18 hours. One morning I slipped on the kitchen floor, as the fridge had defrosted in the night and there was water all over the floor. Most days when you were by the pool, you knew the power had gone off as the shops went dark and the music stopped. The shop keepers complained bitterly to anyone who would listen as they were loosing trade.

We found that the best staff at the complex werre the cleaners who did a fantastic job of what they werre trying to clean. We had plenty of clean towels and linen and the room was cleaned every day.

We ate at Big Fingers in the complex quite a few times during the day and always called in for the last drink at night. The food was reasonably priced and really tasty. What did put me off eating there was when I saw one of the staff cleaning the tables with the same squidgy that he had been cleaning the matting around the pool and the floor with (and yes, I watched him clean the floor and then the tables.)

Some of the staff are keen on the young girls, but I wouldn't say it was a massive problem. Sometimes, it was the young girls hassling the staff rather than the other way round. You are hassled when you are round the pool to order drinks and buy tickets for the entertainment but you have to remember that it is their job and they all work on a commission only basis.

Be really careful around the pool. Not only are the paths really slippery, adults and children slipping and falling was a daily occurance, the edges of the pools are really rough and lots of people including myself got grazes, cuts and bruises on our stomaches, legs and feet from getting in and out. If you use the metal steps of the pool, watch the edges, as I manged to loose half a toe nail and slice my little toe open on them. This also goes for the water slides. There are great fun, but some of the repairs to the joints aren't great and can be really rough on you legs and back.

Our room was in a great location, with really good views, but the main down fall, apart from the condition was the both the Big Fingers and the Happy Chinese stayed open 24 hours a day, so you had a lot of noise, shouting and swearing going on most of the night.

I loved staying at the portobello. We was in K block in room 104 it was brilliant. The maid come in daily to clean around.

Pools were fantastic! Especially the slides, an the toddlers pool was just right for the baby who was with us.

The food was delicious, I loved the food at big fingers restaurant an our fave waiters were Alex an Gengus oh and Carlos! The food was lovely at the happy Chinese restaurant as well an our fave waiters there was billy and Josh and Caspa !

I have to say though the man selling jewellery on the corner by the slides was very arrogant with us...he didn't want to know you if you wasnt buying from him.

I loved the entertainment at the hotel on both sides it was that good I bought both cds of the club dances !

I would definitely go again...well we are actually going back next year !

the hotel was fantastic great for the kids my teenage son and daughter loved it.

the entertainments good and the staff are really friendly all the time go out of their way to make you happy a little bit all over the women but thats what there all like over there just take it as a pinch of salt.

Don't go in the E block its quite awful go in the K or L they are satisfactory.

The location is great not a far walk from the beach or all the restaurants I strongly recommend Desire, great food rooms cleaned daily, very polite and friendly cleaners.

Hotel food delicious, especially pizzas and I would definitely go back!(and dont sit on the rough marble on the side of the pool it rubs you and you get a bit of a rash)

We first went to Portobello in 2004 and then I have to say we couldn't fault it especially as we stayed in new 2bed apartments.

This year however its all changed, you can no longer access back of Hotel which in 2004 was main entrance and leads straight to beach, now you have to use front entrance and it a fair way to beach.

Also entertainment used to go on up til 12 at night now they ssshh you after 11pm. We went in a party of 24 and over half of us had stomach upsets and cramps the bar staff suggested it might be the pool but on are return we were found to have food poisoning not sure if this was from Hotel or outside.

Wouldn't go back again its gone down hill big time. Maids only changed are towels once in a week and did hardly any cleaning yet stood with hand out asking for tip on last day!

The complex was big and well equipped, staff were very friendly and helpful.

We had a 2 bedroomed apartment which was clean and basic and after moving rooms, we had a pool view. Down side to pool view was the noise from one of the bars, the music stopped after midnight but other guests were quite noisy but you could still sleep.

Be up early if you want a sun lounger as after 830am you have little chance of getting one.

We booked trips with guy inside complex and had a great time. The Turkish bath on site is also a real must. Also hairdresser on site good and does great pedicures/manicures.

Food on site was of good standard, although all of us had some kind of stomach bug, I can honestly say, I wouldn't put it down to the complex as we had eaten out.

The happy Chinese bar had two staff that were the best, Billy and Casper and made us very welcome at all times.

Everyone has different expectations from a holiday, ours was enjoyable and couldn't fault the complex, Turkey very cheap but if I return I would try another part of it to stay.

This was our 3rd time at the apts and I thought last year was a bit rubbish towards the end of the hol(only because of the food and beverage manager that had started in the last 4 days of the hol)but we had had a great hol in 04 so we gave it another go.

After all a hol is only as good as you make it, yes?? When we got there we were put in to a top floor even though I am registered disabled and can't walk that good, one bedroom apt for 5, I don't think so. When I complained they said they couldn't move us till the Monday, this was Sat. By Monday I had caught a bug of some kind, really bad cramps and never off the toilet. Then my son and daughter got it then my wife got it. When I spoke to anyone from the hotel they all had different excuses. Eventually I went behind the bar to look at the ice machine and low and behold they were not using bought in ice as they said they had a hose from their tap connected to it. Staff told me it went through some sort of regulator(rubbish) I have been in the bar trade for the last 10 years I told him (it was the gas bottle for the coke machine) then by the Wednesday there was a fight one of the waiters and the on-site tattooist. By then I'd had enough, I went to complain and asked for a move and they said I'd have to pay. No chance.

When I got home we went to the doc as we still had a upset stomach and I gave a sample to the doc and the test showed I had a infection. My mate and his family went the same time as us but stayed in the Club Elise next door and he was fine. The only time he had a upset was the day after he visited us at Portobello, he didn't come to visit again. Other mates from England arrived the week after us they also came down poorly and when they got home he went to the doc, and he also had a infection. He still was not feeling good last week (26th July)

I will not be going back to the Portobello, there was lot more happening, even the maf--a was mentioned during the fight (to me I got friendly with a few of the staff and they were all talking about it)

The staff could have been a bit more friendly (waiters) all they did was teach my son (9) how to swear in Turkish, and as for their boss he was worst of all.

Every year we had pool games and other games, not this year, I asked him so many times to start killer pool, about 5 day's it took before he played it, then on the 2nd last day he started pool games, but they were rubbish.

We will not be going to the Portobello again. We will go to Turkey again but I think anyone who has booked up to try and change the hotel, that is the last time I will ever give a place a second chance.

Sorry to be so negative but the hotel has went down in cleanliness and up x 3 in price (nearly

We arrived at the hotel at about 5.30 in the morning after being delayed in the UK for 3hrs.

When we seen the reception area and met some of the staff we thought it was a really nice hotel, they had someone to help us with our suitcases to our room which was in E block, as soon as we opened the room door we were hit by this most awful smell. We looked around the room and I can honestly say that I felt like crying. We have stayed at quite a lot of different places over the years but this was the worst that I have seen. We tried to open the curtains and they fell down on us the patio windows would not shut and seeing as though we were on the ground floor with 2 teenagers that would be sleeping in that room I was not happy. Me and my husband went straight back to reception and told them that we wanted to be moved straight away, we were told that we would have to wait till the rep got there at 9.15.

When they did arrive we spoke to them and they said that they would move in 2 days but in the meantime they would get the cleaners in and the maintenance to fix everything so we agreed to that (they did spring-clean the room and fix everything and left us a big bunch of flowers). We were then moved 2 days later into a much better room in a different block and from then on we really enjoyed our holiday.

The staff were really friendly (maybe a bit much sometimes with my 15yr daughter). There was always plenty going on around the pool, the one bartender who called himself Scooby Doo was always extra friendly when he wanted to sell you bbq tickets once you paid he ignored you.

The staff in the small poolside bar down by d block were very friendly especially Lopez, only problem there they were serving our underage children vodka red bulls without us knowing and putting it our bill, but once we had a word with them they were fine, would definitely go back to the Portobello again but would state on booking that we wouldn
