Thompson visited here on October 2009
The resort was perfect for me and my 3 children (16,13,11). A safe beach at the bottom of the hotel with watersports. A new coastal walk has been built which takes you to Pernera which is a lovely stroll in the evening as it is all lit up with cafes and bars to stop at should you wish. The resort had local bus service to Ayia Napa and Paralimni and took us to the WaterWorld park which was a thouroughly enjoyable day, albeit thru thunder storms!. Regular Boat trips took off from the coastal strip, plus the resort has a Red Bus tour which is a must for those who want to know about the area and history of ...
this side of the Island. A well orgainsed, often comical and informational 3 hrs spent. Children want to go back again next year.

shoced to find that protaras was not an all year round resort and was dissapointed to see more and more shops/bars /resteraunts shutting down for the winter every day.have seen better beaches in this country and a major dissappointment was fig tree bay very small indeed and half the beach taken up with boats and the like.

This is a modern resort that seems to have been established in the past decade. However, it has something for everyone.

The beach is lovely, and the council operated loungers and umbrella, at 7.5 Euros a day, where really needed in August. The beach has Blue Flag European status and is big enough for everyone. The water is especially inviting. For the more adventurous, there are water sports, parachutes, glass bottomed boats, everything for everyone.

The town centres along the \'Strip\', the Hotel Rd which is everything but. It is full of shops, bars, and smashing restaurants selling plentiful food at decent prices. We ate at a different place each night, and all were great.

Just outside the main area is a large ...
childrens playground with rides at a euro each. This will keep the little ones happy, as it did ours.

All in all, a great place and we would go back again

Martin visited here on August 2009
The resort is great, the hotel is right on the beach which is clean, the sea was great for swimming and snorkling. We paid 10 euros per adult and 5 euros per child to go on a boat trip for 2 and half hours which included sight seeing and stopping for a swim and some snorkling if you wanted. Would highly reccommend this trip good value for money and really enjoyable.

There is a good water sports center on the beach and a dive shop nearby.

You can walk to Protaras along the boardwalk however would reccommend you do this in the evening when it is a bit cooler!

The weather was brilliant every day, too hot at times!

The resort of Protaras is very good and very child friendly.
Plenty of restaurants to choose from with somthing to suite everyone, english, chinese, indian ( defo recomend Raj )mexican the list goes on.

The beach (Figg Tree Bay) is fantastic the only problem is when we go middle of August it is very busy especially as the locals are on holiday too.

Good choice of bars and restaurants for families. Not much for teenagers if they want to go clubbing but Ayia Napa not far in a taxi. Only 2 clubs in Protaras that we found. Teenagers went to Boogie nights and were not impressed.

Resort very clean. Beach in Pernera area very nice but a bit crowded. Sea very clean. The walk along the coast from Pernera is lovely - there is a proper path which is lit up at night. It goes to Rising Star aparthotel where you can walk into main resort.

The main strip is a bit tacky but very colourful and there are plenty of shops, bars etc for families with younger ...
children up to about 10.

To eat out for family of 5 it was quite expensive - similar to UK if you want a proper meal but if you have snacks eg club sandwich, omelettes etc it makes it a bit cheaper. Alcohol a bit more expensive than UK.

Would go to the resort again but don\'t usually visit places more than once.

the resort of paralimni is a quiet family resort located between pernera and protaras. the beach is a small shingle beach, but less than 5 minutes is a small sandy cove. there are numerous restaurants and bars close to the beach.
the seafront is spotlessly clean and is a very easy walk because most of it is laid with wood decking. we would visit this resort again.

Overall everyone in our group said they really enjoyed this resort.
All the adults who were in their 30\'s to 70\'s thought it was excellent and there was something for everyone, a wide range of restaurants, bars and shops although it was really expensive, some bars were charging 10 euros a cocktail so you had to be careful before buying. after a few days we learned which bars were cheaper.
Me and my boyfriend are 21 and 26 so after a few nights we were getting bored as we have no children and this is a very family based resort. We found one nightclub called boogies which was right near the hotel which was realy good but we couldnt go ...
everynight so we went for a night out in Aiya napa which was about a 40 minut bus ride away. it was a realy good night but so expensive we could only go there once.

one night we went to the chinese with all the lights outside and it was the worst reataurant ive ever been to. it looked lovely from the outside and also nice inside but the food and service was horrible. there was 14 of us and we all got our meals at different times and my sweet n sour chicken was like burnt coal and my aunty had chicken chowmein with not 1 piece of chicken in it. we complained and eventualy got some money off the bill.
We went to the all you can eat mexican which was quite nice.
our fave bar was bells bar which done nice cheap cocktails.

been here the last 5 years lots of changes taken place new restuarants open and boutique style bars and of course now a no smoking ban in pubs and restaurants and from what we were told last year 2009 even outside bars within a certain distance you cant smoke some of the pavements starting to get a bit messy not with rubbish!some bricks missing etc but does not detract from the ambience of the resort

The resort of Protaras is awash with bars restaurants supermarkets, lots of nice restaurants to suit everybodys pocket. Good bus service to Ayia Napa and surrounding areas and plenty of shops to look around. You must have a day on fig tree bay the sea is really lovely to swim in.

Martha visited here on June 2009
This resort is rather cheesy, all British and filled with karaoke bars. However it’s family friendly and while I wouldn’t choose it for just the two of us it fits the bill with older children.
Beaches
I think the beaches are very disappointing. Too many sunbeds, too crowded and full of litter.
Restaurants
We went to a different restaurant each night and didn’t have a bad meal.
I was here two years ago and prices have really gone up. You couldn’t get fillet steak for less than 18 euros.
We had just main courses plus the odd garlic bread. Wine, water and 2 large cokes and the bills were around 70 euros.
The Nicholas – large portions and a lovely “free” greek salad to start with ...
but the most expensive meal of the week.
Red Indian – good ribs, good service, this was the favourite.
Mexican –the Mexican in Eden square was shut so we went to chi chi’s where the fajits were lovely.
Also the Basilico (Italian), Astoria and the Manderine.
The only one I wouldn’t recommend was the Alva hotel restaurant. We succumbed to a very forceful guy pulling in and were disappointed .

Water Park
Waterworld at Aya Napa is not to be missed. We took the local bus which costs 1.50e each and takes about 40 minutes.
The water park is beautifully laid out with a huge range of slides for all ages.It cost us 92 euros to get in, even using some discount tokens we were given.Children over 12 are counted as adults.
So good we went twice in a one week holiday.
I wouldn\'t go to Protaras again , mainly because we\'ve been twice and I think anywhere loses the excitement if you go too many times.

Protaras gets bigger and louder every year,it\'s man-made for Brits, you get everything you need from fast food to Pricey restaurants. Plenty for Kids to do but again, its not cheap. We dont go for the \'Strip\',but its still very popular. Some good pubs are situated on the main road if you know where too look, plenty of choice for cheaper food and drink. Without doubt,Protaras has some of the Best beaches in Europe. The resort is tacky yes,but it\'s safe, clean and still good fun.

resort very clean, public areas were kept very clean, pool was of a fair size, poolside bar very good staff again very polite and spoke good english. Entertainment was quite naff, pool vollyball twice a week, wateraerobics twice, french boules, again twice but only one set of boules and dont forget the quiz at four oclock. evening start with bingo then karaoke, next night magic act, then over the course of the week, solo singer, cyprus dancers well 3 of them, hotel run competion mr and mrs, the entertainment team work hard, with little resources and very cheerful.
The beach was very pebbley/ rocky and small. sunbeds plenty for all around the pool and on the grass area.just bear in mind the picture of the hotel in the brouche does not show the 3 apartment blocks which are very close

During our stay there had been some beach cleaning and the rocks were littered with black bin bags of retrieved rubbish awaiting collection. From the Monday up to Wednesday a plant rock digging machine was forming a path down to the beach which was a little off putting. You would need to go into Protaras to access the nice beaches.

First time visit to Protarus and loved it, would definately return. Plenty of bars and places to eat. The one\'s we ate in were Oscars, Red Indian, and of course we had to visit Pizza Hut!!!! We would recommend the Malmia bar which is quite near Sweet Memories apartments, good service, friendly staff. Beaches exceptionally clean, excellent shops, very friendly people, loved the place. Must just add if you like your desserts/cakes/pastries/bread etc you must visit P & A Bakery, situated between Friends bar and Fools and Horses bar on the main street in Protaras, doughnuts to die for!!!!
